В эпоху брит-фанка все трое познакомились с Майком Линдупом и Уолли Бадару (который стал почетным участником группы) и отправились в студию для записи своего первого сингла "Love Meeting Love". Второй сингл, "Love Games", вошел в британский Топ-40 и имел успех в Европе. Затем последовали другие незначительные хиты, такие как "The Sun Goes Down (Living It Up)", "Hot Water", но большим прорывом в 1985 году стала песня "Something About You". Этот сингл стал первым хитом Level 42 в США и хорошо продавался по обе стороны океана. Группа продолжала выпускать фанковые, джазовые хитовые песни с безумно хорошими мелодиями и ритмами.
