On the heels of their holiday 7″, Will Oldham, aka Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, and Dawn McCarthy of Faun Fables have announced a full LP of Everly Brothers covers. Entitled What the Brothers Sang, the record of retooled classics is due February 9th, 2013 via Drag City. While the songs pull from four decades worth of material, the record is “no mere gesture of nostalgia; these new versions rethink The Everly Brothers for the audience of listeners today…”. What the Brothers Sang seeks to instill McCarthy and Billy’s uniquely harmonized presence into a collection of songs fit for The Great American Songbook.
