To all our respected critics, reviewers, and wisenheimer: be prepared to listen to this album in tranquility. If you do not do so you will most likely rate this release one out of five stars. And this is something which it certainly does not deserve. This album needs time and patience to be fully understood. And if you do so you will be enlightened by the true beauty of this selection. Not only for Don McCaslin's project Warmth the time has come for representation and appreciation. All the songs on this disc are well worth to be discovered. No matter if you skip to Jorge Darden's jazzy-soulful "Alone Again" or to Seeds of Fulfillment's stunning "Solemn Solitude". Each and every song is a masterpiece in its own right. Funky soul music fans will be pleased to get a chance to listen to Cookie Thomas and Bold Breed, two cuts which are hard to find in its original format. Rarity is one thing, quality is another. The songs to be found here are both rare and good. Better yet, until now, all of these tracks had not yet been compiled. After Movements and Feeling Nice, two already well-established compilation series on Tramp, Praise Poems could be the start of a new successful one. It was solely the title track which lead us to release this album. Don't ask if there will be a Volume 2. We don't know yet. What we do know is that if we ever come across a similar tour de force as Don McCaslin's compostion, then there will certainly be one. Record Label: Tramp Records Style: Soul

The current ambient sound is defined on productions from Jonny Nash and A.R.T Wilson. Album-only exclusives are provided by super producer Rui DaSilva's new downtempo project Lisbon Kid, as well as a fun, dubby edit from chillout legend Afterlife. The dream house genre features with tracks from seminal Italian DJ Don Carlos plus a sought-after Japanese rarity from 1991 called Low Tension. Cantoma, aka Phil Mison, DJ from the Cafe Del Mar, provides Alive, a hooky record that won't let you go and Chris Coco introduces us to his Balearic production project- Nick & Samantha. Timeless art direction from Peter Chadwick (Popular / This Brutal House) combines with a first-rate photo shoot by David Ryle to produce a heavenly visual identity that encapsulates Summer. The curators are: Chris Coco, who was part of the original firm that compiled the Real Ibiza compilations throughout the 1990s and currently hosts Melodica, an award winning radio show; and Jim Breese, who was resident DJ at Cafe Mambo Ibiza and currently produces the respected Ku De Ta album series for the beloved Bali based sunset venue. It’s unbelievable what used to be hidden in the secret drawers of Production Music Companies for decades. Dramatic Funk Themes Vol. 4 pulls one jewel of groove after the other out of dusty archives. What began eight years ago with Vol. 1 continues now with Vol. 4: fifteen not yet commercially released Rare Groove tracks that would fit perfectly into every Blaxploitation Classic or Tarantino Thriller. Nowadays it’s still astonishing that these great pieces of music on this compilation only appeared in several jingles for commercials, documentaries, crime shows and radio plays in the 70s. In the light of that outstanding audio material and the artists behind it, it’s really exciting to discover such high-class productions in some random archives but on the other hand it’s sad that many music companies keep such treasures well-hidden and hard to reach. But anyway, we stay tuned! Dramatic Funk Themes Vol. 4 is filled with fifteen monster-grooves which trigger your imagination. In a jiffy you will get lost in a dream, where you drive down the streets of San Francisco in an old Cadillac with your windows open and funky beats piercing through your ride when suddenly a gangster squad passes and you become witness of a pursuit between the cops and the bad guys… pure action!
