All tracks from the archive of Jaime Paul Lamb from tapes recorded between 1993 & 1999 in the USA. Slovenly has ganged up with Black Gladiator to “KBD 90s” with a tore-up double LP called “WE’RE LOUD: 90s Cassette Punk Unknowns.” What we got here is 33 scuzzed out tracks by 19 unknown bands from micro-released and unreleased cassettes recorded across the USA between 1993 & 1999 - totally off the radar and outsider as fuck. One perverted cat named Jaime Paul Lamb was at the helm of the whole thing, forming bands and recording them and others’ on his Yamaha MT50, and acquiring similar tapes from other punk vermin in between halfway house pit stops. Some of the most completely tasteless and juvenile swill we’ve ever heard resides in these grooves: THE FUCKING PIGS paean to crotch-rot “Herpes Attack” is here, as is their proud proclamation “(I’m a) Date Rapist.” Hell, two songs on the first LP alone have “C U Next Tuesday” in the title thanks to MEGA & THE NYRDZ and THE BARF BAGS. Still, there’s more than just obnoxious sputum here. Vegas’ LES FLEUR DU MAL kick down two bona fide classic power-pop tracks, THE DROP OUTS (one of a ton of combos at the time with that moniker - this one from Costa Mesa) dump a Flipper-fied sludge bomb in “She’s a Jyrk,” VAN BUREN WHEELS romp and stomp with savage 60s style Pacific Northwest garage, and LUKEY & THE CHICKEN SLITZ and OBLONG BOXERS both make with bizarro black tar burners. This is a compilation of 16 UK 7" singles recorded between 1978 and 1982, compiled by JD Twitch, that showcases the DIY spirit of those times. "If Punk was the nuclear detonation, the fallout that came after was where a lot of the most interesting music of that era was made. People who would never have thought to release a record before realised it was something they could do, and the end result was a DIY explosion. I've always loved music that doesn't try to fit in a particular genre, that is anti-canonical and doesn't care what else is going on in music at that time, that takes risks and is full of imagination and ideas that may or may not make any logical sense but that resulted in something unique, that ignores conventions about how a record SHOULD be produced and that was created simply because its creators felt the urge to express themselves and share the results with some other people. This compilation compiles 16 tracks that fulfil all those criteria. None of them had any success, most are (unjustly) obscure but every one of them has inspired me and would be in my ultimate 7" singles box." - JD Twitch. This release has been a real labour of love involving tracing long-lost artists to far-flung corners of the globe, persuading them that the modern world needs to hear the music they made several decades ago, tracking down lost masters, lovingly restoring 7"s in the case of those where the masters were lost and then conceiving an elaborate package with detailed sleeve notes to house the double album package. *NOTE - Due to legal problems with the original title a new version of the sleeve has had to be designed and manufactured. We still hope to make the original packaging available in a modified form but in the meantime this will be released in a gatefold sleeve with printed inner sleeves containing all the info and notes from the original. The original 2 x LP vinyl edition was to come in a super deluxe package combining a double-sided black and white four x 12" panel sleeve, hand-folded into an LP sleeve with a colour insert containing colour photos of all the sleeves all inserted in a bespoke pvc wallet. The four x 12" panel sleeve contains sleeve notes and detailed overviews of each individual track by JD Twitch, and an introduction by New York's DIY expert Dan Selzer. In November 1979 Neil Rushton's Inferno label released a Northern Soul compilation album "Out On The Floor Tonight" from tracks it had issued on 45s. The LP came out with no fuss, and in the mad at the time frenzy at the time frenzy of all things Northern Soul at the time was issued, sold OK, and was soon forgotten as other new releases came along. In the 1980's, UK released Rare Soul compilations became the flavour of the month and "Out On The Floor Tonight" quietly built up a following, before being hailed as a classic of the genre towards the end of the decade by a new Mod scene and the UK "On The Run" Scooterist juggernaut. In more recent times, the Soul Soul renaissance has seen the album hailed as iconic, and several leading movers and shakers on the movement have praised the LP as being their perfect introduction to the strange but wonderful world of Northern Soul. The zittgiest is happening, with announcement of the release, with many people acknowledging Out On The Floor Tonight", the first model, as their all time favorite Northern Soul album. In the spirit of that, Part 2 features 3 tracks also featured in Part 1 - the other 13 hand picked tracks (no fillers here) are all time classics too. This really is "16 Classic Northern Soul Floor Fillers", so all the signs are that this much delayed "follow up" will earn the same credibility as the first release.
