BRAND NEW album from legendary LA firestarters, The Icarus Line. Their third full length release for Agitated (their eigth album in total), following on from their imperious return to the fray in 2013 with the much lauded release of "Slave Vows", followed up by its companion- album release "Avowed Slavery" in 2014. Recorded and arranged live as a group in Cardamone's studio, Valley Recording Company in Burbank, the sessions "were very private and conducive to conjuring," the frontman describes. "If you are lucky, you can capture something before it dies. I feel like all great music is a fleeting inspiration. You only have so much time to capture it before it either turns into routine or it turns its back on you." The album features a guest appearance from legendary outsider artist Joe Coleman who helped coin the album title. Also appearing is Bad Seed / Grinderman/ Dirty Three band leader Warren Ellis who helped pen the track "Bedlam Blue" with Cardamone. Art work for All Things Under Heaven was found during the making of the record. Veteran news photographer Randy Taylor was receiving attention for some works of his that were created out of destruction. During the Sandy hurricane his archive was flooded and many of his photos were "destroyed". The pictures that would make up the record's sleeve were simply a document of a 4th of July cookout but after the waters of Sandy they became the american dream in a car crash with mother nature. The perfect visual to compliment a document about a melted american dream. All Things Under Heaven packs the kind of swagger, raunch & ascent that would make Iggy Stooge and Sun Ra proud parents. It is a record that expands the vocabulary of what rock music can be without sacrificing the critical spirit that makes it Rock N Roll. The box set also includes a poster. The LPs feature a selection of tracks recorded between 1992 and 1998, a period during which the EG sound evolved thanks to the digital synthesizers available at the time. The group developed a singular style of industrial music that incorporates techno-esque elements, hypnotic rhythms, and tribal influences. The tracks were originally released only on the CDs Control Remoto 1.0 (1992), Veritatis Splendor (1994), Balearic Rhythms (1996), Tokyo sin fin (1996, Japan-only), and Treinta Kilómetros de Radio (1996). Now they see the light on vinyl for the first time, carefully remastered for this release by Alek Stark, with improved sound quality. TUY is the name under which Manchester's underground poet, Craig Dyer, has produced his records since 2009. In 2011, Fuzz Club Records started putting out his prolific catalogue, bringing to light a number of LPs and singles that had only circulat-ed virally on the Internet. 500 copies - 180g, splattered vinyl (red/white) Snail formed in 1992 consisting of singer Mark Johnson (The Crucified, PASTE, Blessing the Hogs), bassist Matt Lynch and drummer Marty Dodson. The eponymous first album (Big Deal Records) garnered much praise in the press, and gained a loyal following from peers, leading to the DIY, 4-track cassetterecorded All Channels are Open EP, after which Snail sadly succumbed to the "sex, drugs, and rock and roll" lifestyle and eroded to the point of breaking up. After 15 years' absence, Snail reunited in 2008 with longtime friend and guitarist Eric Clausen as a fourth member, and unleashed Blood (Meteor City), which was among the highest-rated heavy rock records of 2009, combining fuzzy guitars and a pummeling rhythm section with layered, soaring melodies rarely heard in the genre. In a time of industry turmoil, the record went from blood-red to "in the black," even attracting the attention of underground music legend Henry Rollins, who gave it multiple plays on his "Fanatics" radio show on influential Los Angeles station KCRW. Snail's 2012 follow-up, Terminus, showcased all fresh material, infused with the enthusiasm of newly-minted collaboration. Influences that were not evident in past works came to the fore, steeped in old-school metal and psychedelia. The subject matter was noticeably more mature, delving into the themes of mortality and its implications in our modern world. From crushing doom to head-bobbing Camaro rock and hypnotic psych, Terminus was Snail's most varied work to date; but most importantly, it rocked. With the challenge of a "first new album" behind them, Snail set to work on Feral, their fourth full-length and first for Small Stone. Taking the varied approach of Terminus to new degrees of psychedelia and sonic heft, songs like "Smoke the Deathless" and "Thou Art That" epitomize the weighted melodic appeal of the band, while closer "Come Home" steps forward in its brazen emotionalism. Their last album, "The New Life", was an unexpected worldwide underground hit in early 2013, culminating in nominations for both the Northern Irish and Irish Music Prizes. Emboldened by the reception to that record, they returned with an 11-minute single. Typically, it does not feature on their new album. Girls Names like to do things a little differently. On "Arms Around a Vision", they're more widescreen than ever but also more direct and aggressive. The bass, drums and guitars are still there, but so are saxophones, organs, detuned broken guitars and pianos, and even sheets of metal assaulted with hammers. Conceptually, Arms Around a Vision acts as a love letter to European elegance - Italian futurism, Russian constructivism, Germany's Zero Group and both Neubauten and Bowie's Berlin. Love and pain, romance and fucking. It's all in there somewhere. An album that treads a course between Eno-era Roxy sleaze, Birthday Party dissonance and M.E.S' three R's: repetition, repetition, repetition. While the songs aren't narrative-driven as such - the band still generally favour abstraction and ambiguity - there is a consistent underlying message: "We've got nothing. We've never had anything. RUFF, the newest album from Born Ruffians, is an exploration into self and aesthetics that you will want to tag along for. It's a collection of scrubbed raw anthems that are defiantly optimistic, imaginatively arranged and performed with a sense of bloodlust. In contrast to previous records from this Canada-based quartet, RUFF is simultaneously a return to form and a departure from convention. It is at once a culmination and a disassembly of the band's history and dynamics. RUFF took shape from a singular focus on the work itself, and exploration into the relation of candor, immediacy and art. "We had one overarching goal this time out: to make the album we wanted to make. We took nothing else into consideration," says bassist Mitch Derosier.
