The album title was chosen before any of its songs were written. The not-yet-in-the-dictionary definition of an "aromantic" is simply someone who doesn't completely feel romantic attraction. I'm just trying to get it out from over the red squiggly line. Aromanticism features performances and production contributions from Matt Otto (Majical Cloudz), Thundercat, Joshua Willing Halpern, Paris Strother (KING), Miguel AtwoodFerguson, Rob Moose, Ian Chang (Son Lux), Tosin Abasi (Animals as Leaders), Nicole Miglis (Hundred Waters), Ludwig Görannson, Cam Obi, and more. All of the lyrics and vocal arrangements were written by me. Genre is shirked while choir-inspired vocal layering is employed in order to explore the multiplicities that are contained within a single person

The indie-rockers have been busy in the studio working on exciting new material, which will be the follow up to their 2011 record 'Only Human'. However, the 'Dancing In The Moonlight' hitmakers split after their second album 'Magic Hotel' didn't do as well, but reformed in 2010 and have been gigging ever since. When asked if they've been able to roll with the punches in the music industry, Joseph said: ''I think so. The music industry is tough. I think when we first came out we take every bit of criticism to heart and you take yourself really seriously. I just don't think we're like that anymore. I think we probably love being in Toploader more now than we ever have done. We can do what we want now. Play the shows we want, we haven't got loads of expectations or trying to release songs to get to the top 20, which bands don't get in the top 20 anyway at the moment. So yeah, it's really nice to do what you want and this is first album, we actually own the record and we can do what we want with it.

THE QUIREBOYS will release a new album, "White Trash Blues", on September 5 via Off Yer Rocka. An EP, "Leaving Trunk", will precede the full-length effort on August 1. Says THE QUIREBOYS keyboardist Keith Weir: "Ever since I was a kid I've loved the blues. I used to buy The Blues Collection magazine back in the '90s — I've still got all of those CDs. It's a genre that I've always loved and doing this album was a dream come true." There's a genuine buzz in THE QUIREBOYS' camp as the veteran rock and rollers ready their most ambitious album to date. "It's never been black and white where THE QUIREBOYS are concerned," said frontman Spike. "There have always been shades of the blues. And now we've got the perfect chance to put a new twist on some old classics." But why now? After a successful foray into the world of Americana and the release of their most raucous album to date (2016's "Twisted Love"), the decision to record a raft of iconic blues tunes might seem like a surprise — almost sideways — move. Far from it. "When Spike and I met Chris Ingham from Ramblin' Man Fair, he floated the idea of doing a blues set at this year's festival and we loved the idea," said guitarist Guy Griffin. "Why not do something different to the norm? And at that point, we sensed an opportunity to make a blues record. All of the guys are great musicians — as a band we can play anything. I suppose the trick was giving these blues classics a unique twist and that's what we've tried to do." And on "White Trash Blues", the genre's legends come thick and fast. Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Chuck Berry and Billy Boy Arnold are all afforded a unique QUIREBOYS makeover. Never has Spike sounded so authentic and the band so audibly confident. "The album came together very organically but they are songs everyone has played at different times over the years and they feel like they're part of our history," said guitarist Paul Guerin. "There are a few leftfield choices and we love that but it's always great to give the classics a go. We're naturally suited to playing the blues, but let's be honest — once Spike starts singing, they all sound like they could be QUIREBOYS songs. And they can be!" Featuring special guest Lee Vernon, from PEARL HANDLED REVOLVER, on harmonica, "White Trash Blues" is the perfect companion to what promises to be a set to remember at Ramblin' Man Fair.

ROCK CANDY IS no stranger to bad timing and misfired opportunities. For most people the results are of no great consequence but occasionally, the repercussions - especially with years of hindsight to put the loss into perspective - are truly lamentable. The failure of 'Valentine's sole album is one such case in point. If any melodic rock band should have made a huge international splash then this should have been the one. Formed in New York during the mid 80's and fronted by the sensational vocalist Hugo Valenti, the band soon made friends amongst the NY music business cognoscenti, leading to major management opportunities (Michael Bolton's manager Louis Levin) and a coveted major label deal with Columbia Records. It was easy to see why they attracted such a passionate reaction, armed with music that was not only powerful and memorable but also displayed a song writing ability that left the competition in the dust. Amazingly the band's fortunes took a nose dive when executive changes at the label left them high and dry, forcing them to switch to another company, Giant Records, helmed by industry heavyweight Irving Azoff. Produced by Neil Kernon (Autograph, Queensryche, Lynch Mob) the album was eventually released in late 1990, and it received a great reception from the melodic rock aficionados. Packed with incredible songs, ranging from gilt-lined AOR such as 'Runnin' On Luck Again', 'Too Much Is Never Enough', to the pomp blast of 'Where Are You Now' and Once In A Lifetime'. But the icing on the cake must surely be 'Never Said It Was Gonna Be Easy', one of the greatest power ballads of all time
