The Record store day release now available for all. From original Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac member and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee - Jeremy Spencer. Packing a "vintage vibe" immediately apparent in Jeremy's painterly stroke, "Bend In The Road" fuses his artistry as consummate slide guitarist, singer, songwriter, interpreter, illustrator - man of the world. His evocative watercolor graces the gatefold cover recalling enduring albums when records were the sum of their parts and made with consequence. Within is a correspondingly crafted collection of songs coming from the deepest core of his heart. It's an intimate journey, but one that will connect deeply and repeatedly with listeners. He sounds as authentically fiery and tasty as he ever did, but displaying a far wider guitar palette, insight and conviction that have continued to evolve since his long absence from the public eye. In Fleetwood Mac, Jeremy shared the spotlight with reticent star-super nova, Peter Green, embodying Elmore James riffs and vocals obsessively and uncannily. He possessed an equal fervor and absolute command of quintessential rock n' roll personifying personal hero Buddy Holly and his ilk spot on. "Bend In The Road" is an upshot of being asked to consider working with compatible younger musicians to produce modern material. And yes, he had considered it. From the seed of idea came such an encounter with beyond-his-years accomplished guitarist and blues aficionado, Brett Lucas, who coincidentally fronted a Fleetwood Mac cover band, "Rattlesnake Shake". In Brett, Jeremy found a schooled simpatico player analogous in both musical understanding and gentlemanly humility - virtues not readily in vogue that resonated profoundly. The Detroit quintet sessions provided a perfect storm association, wildly prolific generating 32 tracks! Jeremy's Elmore ("Cry For Me Baby", "Stranger Blues", "The Sun Is Shining"), Buddy and compatriots' influences ("Earthquake", "I Walked a Mile in Sorrow") impeccable blues and rock rendering remain intact and vibrant, but so is a collaborative nature selflessly trading guitar licks and support with Lucas (playfully on "Jambo", epically on "Aphrodite") in the way Green and Kirwan shared on the torching "Like It This Way" and iconic "Albatross". With "Homesick", J.S. gets to fulfill a 45-year old desire to record the author's signature song that opens the album. On the album's elegant "Merciful Sea", Producer Brett manages to persuade Jeremy to reveal his hereto unsung, intimate affecting piano playing for all to marvel. Throughout one can hear an expansive range of influences from Django to Knopfler and Jeremy plays them effortlessly and seamlessly incorporating and making them his own as naturally an easy fit as that of his beloved ceramic slides. This record is a career culmination of technique meets soul invoking a transcendent "Layla-esque" quality with its escalating emotive sequencing ("Refugees" into title cut, "Bend") of spiritually driven and invested songs ("Blind Lover", Come To Me", "Desired Haven") that recalls LPs of yore (yes, proof they can still be made), without sounding dated, intoxicatingly assured and relaxed, out of the blue resonant, a lifetime in the making - guaranteed to grow from affection to cherish with subsequent plays. Multi-instrumentalist and sci-fi prog-rock explorer A.E. Paterra returns with his second proper fulllength as Majeure. Following closely on the heels of his beloved but scarcely limited split album with fellow Zombi cohort Steve Moore, Solar Maximum expands on the cinematic, atmospheric vision alluded by his 2010 debut album, Timespan. Once again composing, performing, and producing the entire album, Paterra broadens the Majeure cosmos with an increased focus on moody synths and an almost inhuman level of patience in the payoff. Drawing influence from 70s celestial film scores, ambient krautrock, and dexterous vintage prog-rock, Solar Maximum trades in the cosmic disco of Timespan for a more spacious and ominous feel that lives up to its ambiguously ambitious title. Mad Monk is John Terrill, original member of the late '70s new/no wave Dancing Cigarettes and veteran of many stripped down Hoosier groups since. As an ace singer/songwriter and eternal student of rock n roll's high/gulcher culture, he's kept a criminally low profile snug in the Midwest despite drawing attention from songwriter Bill Fay and other major/minor music heads. This platter lines up the Monk's two newest biographical orchestrations -- and a Velvet Underground bootleg favorite -- with the freakbeat backup of Apache Dropout -- fresh off their Trouble In Mind album. In blasted proto-style the Monk takes on his past ("My Wild Life"), drink of choice ("Double Shot of Brandy") and a tune that bridges Apache Dropout's boogie and avant-garde notions ("I'm Not a Young Man Anymore"). John The Conqueror's self-titled debut album is an amalgamation of the many sounds and styles (old and new) mined from both the North and the South. Cousins Pierre Moore (vocals & guitar) and Michael Gardner (drums) are natives of Jackson, MS, while bassist Ryan Lynn hails from Philly - where the trio now call home. Together they mix a bedrock of raw deep blues with funk, soul, punk and scuzzed-up rock-n-roll into one helluva potent musical Molotov cocktail. What makes John The Conqueror so refreshing, however, is their honest, simple, yet extremely passionate approach to their music. Moore and Gardner have been playing together in bands since their college days in Oxford, MS, and Moore learned to play guitar in his early teens from a homeless man who slept in the back room of an auto repair shop. Groan play stoner doomy rock, I don’t know if it would be fair to call them metal but they will be liked primarily by metal crowd – you know the drill we have seen that situation many times in our music world. It should be said that the lyrics on “The Divine Right of Kings” are dealing with such arcane topics as execution of Charles I and Middle Ages in general, that well of inspiration is unending source of inspiration for bands of all brands and it seems that such well cannot be dried as Groan among other prove with their craft. The music on “The Divine Right of Kings” goes through various moods, from up-tempo rock to slow wicked parts and everything is led by high charismatic vocals that are employed to grab the vibe Groan were clearly after. For the inspiration of Groan find the answer simply in the name of the track “How Black was Our Sabbath” – yes, the forefathers of metal can be felt through and through “The Divine Right of Kings” which is not weird at all as this sound stems from their root anyway. All in all, “The Divine Right of Kings” is not some groundbreaking record but its feel good mood and cool composition can clearly appeal to all the fans of the genre so they are well advised to check this one out. Milwaukee's reigning roots rockers TRAPPER SCHOEPP & THE SHADES release "Run, Engine, Run" on SideOneDummy Records. Trapper Schoepp has the ear of a troubadour, the eye of a journalist and the heart of a young poet. He began writing songs at a tender age with startling facility, distilling rock, folk and country traditions into tunes that are at turns spirited and melancholy. Themes ranging from pride of place, love and adventure shine with surprisingly sophisticated metaphors for a songwriter so young. "Run, Engine, Run" won't be out of place filed next to other artists distinguished for their early talent like Justin Townes Earle, Ha Ha Tonka and Lucero. TRAPPER SCHOEPP & THE SHADES offer this album as a love letter to their beloved home state of Wisconsin. Like his namesake M*A*S*H surgeon Trapper John, the 22-year-old Wisconsin songwriter found himself prepping for surgery a month before recording his band's third and latest album, "Run, Engine, Run", the result of a gnarly BMX bike crash 6 years earlier. Fortunately, his mother gave him a guitar after the accident and Trapper was able to turn his experiences on the operating table at the MayoClinic (for spinal decompression surgery) into songs like the Stones-flavored rocker, "Pins and Needles." TRAPPER SCHOEPP & THE SHADES is comprised of Trapper on lead vocals and guitar, brother Tanner on bass and vocals, drummer Jon Phillip (Tommy Stinson, Limbeck), and lead guitarist Graham Hunt. Daniel McMahon (Cory Chisel and the Wandering Sons, Cameron McGill) produced ,Run, Engine, Run" and contributed keyboard during the sessions. Grammy-award winning engineer Geoff Sanoff (Fountains Of Wayne, Green Day, Nada Surf) mixed the album. The 12 well-crafted tunes on ,Run, Engine, Run" describe the everyday triumphs and tragedies of Midwestern life. With the musician and producer DANIEL TRIGGER we have found another good nominee for our sub-label Pure Rock Records, who’s has been very creative in the music-business within the last 15 years. Three studio-albums - "Believe In Me“ (1997), "Wheels In Motion“ (1998) and "Full Circle“ (2003) - have been released, four more under the shortened banner TRIGGER: "Call To Arms" (2005), "Fight The Machine“ (2006), "Dawn Of A New Knight“ (2007) and "Furious Times“ (2009). It took DANIEL TRIGGER two years to records „Infinite Persistence“. The album presents melodic Hard Rock with a modern production, done by the boss himself. The sometimes bluesy, sometimes clear, but also rough vocals of Daniel let you think of Arena Rock-heroes of the 80s, the candy keyboards and some of the guitar-riffs (see also „Track 3“) remind of Bon Jovi in their best days.
