Two long years after the release of the first out of four "Green Corridor" Vinyl 12"s on Altin Village & Mine Records, the second part brings together two undoubted musical geniuses. Right on time for the european tours of Jamie Stewart aka Xiu Xiu and Chad VanGaalen, this little treasure will be displayed on the merch tables. In the end all four parts of this vinyl series will add up to one piece of art, musically and graphically. Chad provides 9 (!) exclusive tracks, recorded at his own studio in Calgary, which perfectly present the uniqueness and complexity of his music. The unpretentious giant's songwriting skills leave behind the genres, and is it that "I Want You Back" is his best song after all? Xiu Xiu's tireless output now culminate in a collage, in which he explores the medium's boundaries, by integrating the listener into his art. The listener's supposed to read a question, to then put the needle onto the vinyl which provides the respective answer. One question is "Is it okay to scratch up this record?", and we can assure you: It's not!

This is the first time "The Kenya Sessions" will be available on Vinyl. Sven Kacirek studied drums and marimba at the conservatory in Arnhem/NL, at the Musikhochschule in Hamburg and at the Drummers Collective in New York City. Besides his cooperation with musicians and bands like Hausch- ka, F.S. Blumm, Jan Dvorak, Jan Plewka, Martin Bisi, Alexander Schubert and Uwe Haas, Sven has composed and performed music for modern dance theatre pieces and contemporary ballet. He worked with choreographers like Angela Guerreiro, Filip van Huffel, Antje Pfundtner, Johnny Lloyd among others. In 2009 Sven Kacirek composed the soundtrack of the movie "Five Ways to Dario" by Dario Aguirre. For "The Kenya Sessions", Sven Kacirek traveled through Kenya, equipped with loads of microphones. A pretty solid idea. On "The Kenya Sessions" we find recordings of kenyan Singers and musicians carefully composed to a flow of 15 pieces mixed with Percussion-, Marimba- and Piano-elements. What strikes most while listening is the outstanding quality of the recordings and the accuracy of Sven's work. It's hard to tell which elemnts are added via overdub and what was recorded in Kenya which results in a very organic lis- tening experience. That's when a "drumming kenyan community's welcome ceremony" gently forms into the track "Dear Anastasia" sung by 80 year old kenyan women Ogoya Nengo. Sven's sensitivity for "the gentle tone" which could cast a spell on the listener already on "The Palmin Sessions", gets lifted to a whole new level on this kenyan cooperation

To perform on stage on her own was never as much fun for her as to write her own songs. A full band outfit should evolve - not necessarily an easy task and an intent cursed with failure several times before, especially if the songs are so close to the protagonist. The current line-up, consisting of Kristof Kuenssler (drums), Stefan Diessner (bass/guitar) and Ulrich Kalliske (bass/guitar), turned out to be the perfect one. Perfect indeed, if you just look at the long term connection between all 4 members, may it be their close friendship or just being on tour and playing shows together ... it just naturally evolved. The Dropout Patrol is the name of Jana Sotzko's solo project. So now, after 10 years, the first selftitled Dropout Patrol album is about to be released, an album that's personal and so very close to the things that get life moving forward and things that get lost, change or just fail along the way. Sotzko observed precisely, found just the right words for things that repeat themselves but yet, stay unique. ..and in the end, "being observed" becomes a major topic itself. That's how the songs get interspersed with beautiful pictures which, at best, last longer than the actual runtime of this album: being chased by wolves, monkeys on rooftops, kisses in a hurry. It's these gorgeous moments that are created carefully and reduced ... when tempi change, a choir sets in & so much truth is mentioned in a passing that it almost hurts.

Jookabox, the name of Indianapolis native David ""Moose"" Adamson's musical project, sounds like a child slurring the words ""Grandpa Jukebox,"" implying filial connection with an archaic musical object. Either that or the intoxicated pronunciation of a strange blues artist's nom de plume. When David was in grade school, his uncle took note of his developing interest in hip-hop and loaned him a four-track. They mixed tracks together and the young Adamson would write rhymes to sing over them, including a double-boombox sequel to Fu-Schnicken's ""What's Up Doc (Can We Rock?)"" called ""Sufferin' Succotash (I Got Whiplash)"" At first the beats came from instrumental sides of cassette singles, then from presets on his uncle's drum machine, and finally from his very own beat machine (a Christmas gift), the Yamaha DD-9. But that was a long time ago. Since then, through various incarnations and collaborations with groups such as Archer Avenue and BIGBIGcar, Adamson's musical interests and excursions have crystallized into a startlingly singular and eclectic songwriting strategy. Jookabox's debut record, Scientific Cricket, samples a kind of primordial blues sound, children's sidewalk-chalk rhymes and Appalachian folk. But his latest effort finds him moving into new, unplumbed territories. Ropechain pinwheels kaleidoscopically through old-time spirituals, punk, chain-gang hymnal, deep house, and club music hip-hop, blending these disparate elements into a cohesive and unique synthesis.
