The Finnish metal combo Disgrace recorded a follow-up to their debut Grey Misery in 1993, to a small French underground label. Unluckily enough the master tapes to this album, bearing the name Vol.2, went astray when the label manager disappeared, and to add insult to injury, the recording engineer Timo Tolkki had already erased the reel-to-reel tapes at the studio before anyone thought of making a 2nd copy. Disgrace went onwards, not shedding too many tears over their lost album, securing a new record deal and releasing the mini-CD Vacuum Horror, Horror Vacuum next year. Some of the songs on the lost album were reworked and re-recorded for the next album Superhuman Dome, released in 1996. A few years back a bout of nostalgia struck the band and they started going through their personal archives to see if they could find any of the cassette tape copies some of the members made of the lost tapes back in the day. Some cassettes were located, but none of them was in completely pristine shape, so the resulting reconstruction of Vol.2 is sourced from three different cassettes. The material has undergone a severe restoration process, but those with sharp ears can undoubtedly notice some tiny imperfections. Vol.2 is the missing link between the grinding death metal evident on Disgrace's debut album Grey Misery and the more rocking heavy riffs on Vacuum Horror, Horror Vacuum and Superhuman Dome.
