Russ Wilkins (Bass) When punk rock group the Pop Rivets broke up in 1980, Billy Childish joined forces with Mickey Hampshire, a Pop Rivets roadie who had been performing in a group called Mickey and the Milkshakes with his cohort Banana Bertie. The two began writing songs together and the group released their first LP, Talking 'bout Milkshakes! in 1981. With Childish and Hampshire sharing guitar and vocal duties, Bruce Brand on drums, and Bertie on bass (later replaced by Russ Wilkins then John Agnew), the Milkshakes' sound was a primitive blend of British beat groups, like the early Kinks at their toughest, and hard-rocking American guitar instrumentalists like Link Wray. This sound came to be known as the "Medway sound" and the core members have been playing a variation on it throughout their whole careers. The Milkshakes were a very prolific group, recording nine records in their four years together, and the band was very much a blend of Childish's primitive songwriting and Hampshire's more melodic leanings. The group also masterminded and backed a Medway girl group, the Delmonas. When Mickey left The Milkshakes in 1984 Childish, Brand and Agnew went on to form Thee Mighty Caesars. Mickey and Bruce now play in The Masonics along with Ludella Black from The Del Monas, and Russ lives in Scotland and fronts the Wildebeests as well as being Lord Rochester.

Punk classic reissued on limited edition colour 7"! First ever reissue of Lockjaw's debut single. Originally released in late 1977. Lockjaw began life in Crawley Sussex, first as The Guernsey Flowers and then The Amazing Doctor Octopuss. This is the first of two singles they recorded for Cambridge-based Raw Records. A second 7" - 'Journalist Jive', followed in 1978. Their continued claim to fame is that Simon Gallup was later in the band before going on to join The Cure, and it was his older brother Dave who wrote 'Radio Call Sign'. Reissue of the classic debut album!** Limited to 1000 copies, 500 on NEON YELLOW and 500 on NEON PINK, randomly chosen! This version is in a GATEFOLD sleeve featuring the original Barney Bubbles artwork from the inner sleeve for the first time since the Belgian edition from 1978. Yes it's an official repressing of the debut album "Cycledelic" from JOHNNY MOPED following on from their new album "It's A Real Cool Baby" which came out on Damaged Goods earlier in the year to critical acclaim. "Cycledelic" was originally released in April 1978. Apparently a nightmare to record - by this stage, Johnny was practically under house arrest after the group's van had run over Brenda's mother (not fatally!), causing her to finally loose patience with whole scenario. In order to get Johnny to the studio on time, the others met him from work, spun some tale of needing a group meeting in some spurious café or other and promptly drove him all the way to the studio nonstop. The vocals were thus laid down in one day. A "Mystery Track" was added to the LP later at Roger Armstrong's (Chiswick Boss) bequest. Johnny did the vocals for this cut over the phone. The "Mystery Track" eventually appeared on the LP in the same place as "VD Boiler" as a piece of concentric tracking (ie. you got one cut or the other depending where you placed the stylus.) Revolutionary! The rest of the LP was made up of live cuts recorded at The Roundhouse. Not all of the best punk-era bands were recorded, but through the farsightedness of Chiswick Records, Johnny Moped happily were. Thirty eight years (YES!) on, Cycledelic wears its dumb brilliance well. It's also Captain Sensible's favourite album, which can't be bad

"On 'A Song For Kylie Minogue' Childish pays tribute to some of the rock stars who have paid tribute to him over the years (minus one or two big names). All true stories, we get an insight as to who has tried to stroke Childish." (B. Childish - March 2016) 40 years ago, Billy Childish, then a 16 year old working in Chatham dockyard formed a group called 'the Chatham Forts', and started a journey through punk rock from 1977 to now. Along the way this painter/ poet has released over 140 independent LPs. (SQ 1 is something like his 150th.) "The reason we didn't sound like the Smiths is because we wanted to sound like this" is Billy's reply to all the reviews of his band's work during the '80 and '90s - in the days when they stood all but alone as 'the kings of garage rock' (New York Times).

Johnny Moped's first album since 1990's The Search For Xerxes! 16 tracks on gatefold LP (green vinyl)! It's 38 years since their debut album Cycledelic came out to an unsuspecting public via the legendary Chiswick Records label.and now (apart from the Search For Xerxes album) the remaining three original members of Johnny Moped, that's Johnny Moped, Slimy Toad and Dave Berk, are back with a brand new album called It's A Real Cool Baby. It's a sixteen track mix of new songs and a revisit to a few live favourites that never got recorded back in their heyday including 'I Wanna Die' and 'I Believed Her Lies'. The original three Mopeds have been joined by long time live members, Jacko Pistorious and Rock N Roll Robot (also know as Rob from legendary Ska/Punk band Case). They released their first 7" for 37 years on Damaged Goods last year, 'Ain't No Rock N' Roll Rookie' hit the number 3 position in the UK vinyl chart and was warmly received by Moped fans as "sounding just like a Johnny Moped single", no higher praise could be awarded!

A taster from their forthcoming album, their first since 1990's The Search For Xerxes. This limited 7" single features 'Real Cool Baby' taken from the LP along with an exclusive B-side 'Never Never Time' Johnny Moped are an English punk rock group from south London, who once had Chrissie Hynde (later of The Pretenders) and Captain Sensible (later of The Damned) within their ranks. Formed in Croydon in May 1974, the band were a proto-punk band. Initially calling themselves Johnny Moped and the 5 Arrogant Superstars, by August they changed their moniker to Assault and Buggery, then the Commercial Band, before reverting to just Johnny Moped by January 1975. Johnny Moped became one of the pioneering punk bands that played live in the first few months of London's now-legendary Roxy Club. They played two gigs in February 1977, one supporting Eater and one backing The Damned. The following month they played two more, one supporting Slaughter & The Dogs and the other backing The Damned. In April, they were on a bill that included Wire, X-Ray Spex and the Buzzcocks. Johnny Moped's "Hard Lovin' Man" appeared on the hit various artists album Live at the Roxy WC2 (Harvest Records, 1977). The band signed with Chiswick Records and released three singles, including "Little Queenie" (a cover of the Chuck Berry song), and one album - Cycledelic - before splitting up. First single "No-One" later featured on the Chiswick various artists sampler album Long Shots, Dead Certs and Odds On Favourites in 1978, while b-side "Incendiary Device" made number 15 in BBC Radio 1 DJ John Peel's 'Festive Fifty', the so-called 'lost list' of 1977. Sixteen years after its release, the publishers of The Guinness Encyclopedia of Popular Music, named Cycledelic as one of the best fifty punk albums of all-time. Most of the band reformed to record a second album The Search For Xerxes in 1990.

Glimpse Of Another Time' is a song about the scene based round Slim Chance's Club at the Wild Western Rooms in the 1990s. (The club was out the back of the St John's Tavern in Archway, North London, it later moved down the road to the Boston Arms.) Billy's group Thee Headcoats used to play a regular monthly stint there which explains the EP photo from 1991 of Billy fronting Thee Headcoats with Bruce and Johnny on that tiny, legendary - wild west themed - stage. A 4th album will follow in March 2016

Thee Headcoats were mainly Billy Childish (Git/Vox) Bruce Brand (Drums) and Johnny Johnson (bass), they formed in 1989 after Billy's previous band Thee Mighty Caesars gave up the ghost. By 1992 they had already released something like 6 albums and 15 singles one of which was catalogue number Damgood1, a split single with Thee Headcoatees. Lots more releases followed including the great "In Tweed We Trust!" album. Thee Headcoats carried on touring and releasing records in every corner of the world until mid 2000 when they called it a day.

Holly first came to musical prominence as a member of Thee Headcoatees, a Billy Childish/Thee Headcoats all-girl splinter group in 1991. Four years later she broke away from the garage punk scene with the release of her debut solo album The Good Things, which featured a mix of folk, early electric blues, & '60s beat influenced rock 'n' roll. It's a template that she's honed over the course of 13 solo albums, along the way impressing celebrity fans such as Jim Jarmusch (Holly's track Tell Me Now So I Know featured as the main title theme in his Broken Flowers movie), and most notably Jack White who duetted with Holly on It's True That We Love One Another, the final track on the classic White Stripes album Elephant. Though it's been 11 years since her last solo album, Holly's been busy as half of blues/Americana duo Holly Golightly & The Brokeoffs (The Brokeoffs being multi-instrumentalist Lawyer Dave). The pair have released a string of well received albums, and undertaken many tours on both sides of the Atlantic. This is a 12" LP version of their second album, originally available on a limited double 10" courtesy of Squoodge Records of Germany, these songs were released to mark Billy's exhibition "Darkness was here yesterday" at the Carl Freedman Gallery in London back in 2013. Damaged Goods released a hand-stamped mail-order only CD version at the time but now they have some lovely 12" vinyl LP copies. The latest band of Wild Billy Childish is CTMF. His description of their sound holds true - "the sound of yesterday, tomorrow".
