Al Johnson came from the 60s Washington group The Unifics, then in 1978 he released a debut album Peaceful' on an independent label. It featured the original version of I've Got My Second Wind' that would later be re-recorded and become a popular song from his 1980 CBS album Back For More' and is featured here. The song I'm Back For More' was a duet from the album featuring Jean Carn which is released in its full length version here on Expansion for the first time. Both songs timeless moern soul classics. Spyder Turner, originally born Dwight Turner in West Virginia, moved to Detroit and worked as a singer, musician and producer from the late 50s. In the 60s he recorded at MGM before joining Norman Whitfield at Whifield Records. Here he recorded two albums, Music Web' from 1978 including the two outstanding tracks presented here. He also worked with Rose Royce during his time at Whitfield. I've Been Waiting' has been in particular high demand, original copies exchanging hands for vast sums. Mystique were a Chicago group formed by Ralph Johnson, former leader with The Impressions after Curtis Mayfield and LeRoy Hutson. In 1977 they released a self-titled album at Curtom records and five singles, none of which were this show stopping version of If You're In Need', a Grey & Hanks composition performed and produced everywhere as near good as the better known version by Lenny Williams. In the year 2000, the album was issued on CD with previously unissued bonus tracks including Spoiled Like A Baby', a song recorded in 1977 by American pop duo Addrisi Brothers, but this version by Mystique is far superior and highly in demand modern soul room dancer on vinyl, facilitated here by Expansion Record Label: Expansion Style: Soul

Tony started DJ-ing on ZBM Radio in Bermuda from 1963-1967, then briefly was with offshore pirate Britain Radio 355 in 1967. In 1971-76, co-owner of Sound Unlimited in Brighton, which had the best selection of soul 7 in the South outside London, then had his own shop at Worlds End, London, called Disc Empire from 1978-1981. From1981-1989, then more recently, from late 1998 onwards - he has exclusively involved with Solar Radio - first on analogue, and later on Sky and the net. Along the way he created a trademark feature of his radio show, 'Ethereal Magic', a time to take it easy, relax and indulge in some of the most breataking mellow moments, this first CD collection offering moments both exclusive and for the first time on CD alongside tracks by classic artists.
