180 GRAM AUDIOPHILE VINYL / INSERT / REMASTERED AUDIO Bush Doctor is the third studio album by Jamaican reggae musician Peter Tosh. Along with Bob Marley and Bunny Wailer he was one of the core members of the band The Wailers (1963-1974). Tosh also established himself as a successful solo artist. In 1978 he was contracted by Rolling Stones Records and the album Bush Doctor was released in the same year, introducing Tosh to a larger audience. The single from the album, a cover version of The Temptations song "Don't Look Back", performed as a duet with Mick Jagger, made Tosh one of the best-known reggae artists. Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards is also featured on the album, playing guitar on "Bush Doctor" and "Stand Firm". The re-issue with remastered audio is pressed on 180 gram audiophile vinyl.

The album charted at No. 15 in the UK and reached No. 61 in the US Album Charts. The song "The Garden Of England" was recorded at Beatles producer George Martin's AIR studio in Montserrat. All the songs were original Rafferty compositions, though one - "Johnny's Song" - was a remake of a song which had been previously released by his former band Stealer's Wheel, and another - "Didn't I" - was a remake of a song from Rafferty's 1971 album Can I Have My Money Back. The memorable melodies, moving allegories, and genuine lyrical warmth that Rafferty is revered for arise in some more tracks, like in the beauty of "Bring It All Home" or in the mystique of "Look At The Moon". The quartet, comprised of producer Daniel Lanois on guitar and vocals, jazz drummer extraordinaire Brian Blade, session bassist Daryl Johnson, and vocalist/keyboardist Trixie Whitley (daughter of the late great Chris Whitley) make a beguiling, seductive music that blurs Rock, Soul, Blues, gothic Americana, New Orleans Funk, and dubwise Reggae. The band generated significant excitement when they released stark, black-and-white videos of their rehearsals and leaked concert footage from a show at Bowery Ballroom in New York. All songs on Black Dub are written by Lanois, save for two, the group effort "Last Time" and the song "Ring The Alarm" written by Tenor Saw. 180 GRAM AUDIOPHILE VINYL Tom Rush is an American folk singer/songwriter who began performing in 1961 while studying at Harvard University (he majored in English literature). Quickly, he became a regular on the East Coast folk circuit. A lot of his early recordings are versions of Lowland Scots and Appalachian folk songs. His first album saw the light of day in 1962. Credited by Rolling Stone magazine with ushering in the era of the singer/songwriter, Rush sang songs by then new songwriters such as Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Murray McLauchlan, helping them to gain recognition early in their careers, in addition to performing his own compositions. On his 1970 self titled album Tom Rush - his 7th album - he covers songs from fellow folkies such as Jackson Browne, Murray McLauchlan, James Taylor and David Wiffen, with a hint of country sneaking into the arrangements. The music of Tom Rush has left its stamp on generations of artists. James Taylor once told Rolling Stone, Tom was not only one of my early heroes, but also one of my main influences.

The album dates from the earlier part of Roy Ayers' career as a leader, before he delved heavily into R&B and Funk fusions and instead concentrated more on Soul-Jazz grooves. Producer Herbie Mann, a talent scout pur sang, assembled an exceptional septet for Ayers with Gary Bartz on alto sax, arranger Charles Tolliver on trumpet/flugelhorn, Hubert Laws on flute, Herbie Hancock on piano, Ron Carter or Miroslav Vitous on bass and Grady Tate on drums. The program is a typical late 1960s menu, heavy on such Top 40 pop covers as the dated Stoned Soul Picnic, For Once In My Life and What The People Say. Ayers plays some of his finest-ever work on two modal originals: the lovely A Rose For Cindy and Tolliver's waltz Lil's Paradise.

J Mascis (Dinosaur Jr.): Live at CBGB'S: FIRST ACOUSTIC SHOW "My first ever acoustic performance, and I'm a little freaked out." With those words, then-Dinosaur Jr. frontman J Mascis kicked off the show on this live set (recorded in December 1993), in which the man who'd made his name with bludgeoning volume and über-heavy electric guitar freakouts quietly stripped his songs down to their framework for an evening. While Mascis would get more comfortable with such things over the passage of time, for a first-time gig in an unfamiliar format, Live At CBGB's sounds surprisingly confident and coherent. Presented in their simplest form, Mascis' songs display a tuneful elegance that sometimes gets lost when pumped through a stack of Marshalls (especially "Not the Same," "What Else Is New," and "Keeblin'"), and while on the first few numbers he tends to overemphasize the natural drawl in his voice, by the end of the show Mascis is in admirable form as both a guitarist and a singer. Riot City Blues is the eighth studio album by Primal Scream, released in 2006. On this album, Primal Scream leaves its electronic element behind and returns to more traditional Rock & Roll. The album features Will Sergeant (Echo & the Bunnymen) on "When The Bomb Drops" and "Little Death", Warren Ellis (Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Dirty Three) on "Hell's Coming Down" and Alison Mosshart (The Kills) adding vocals to "Dolls (Sweet Rock and Roll)" and "Suicide Sally & Johnny Guitar". Volunteered Slavery is a classic Jazz album by multiinstrumentalist Roland Kirk, featuring his 1968 Newport Jazz Festival appearance and studio performances recorded in July 1969. It features performances by Kirk with Ron Burton, Vernon Martin, Jimmy Hopps and Joe Habao Texidor, Charles McGhee, Dick Griffith, Sonny Brown, Charles Crosby and the Roland Kirk Spirit Choir. Rahsaan Roland Kirk could play more than one wind instrument at once. Apart from clarinets and flutes, his main instruments were tenor saxophone and two obscure saxophones: the stritch and the manzello. He modified these instruments himself to accommodate his simultaneous playing technique. He is also noted for his circular breathing technique and was reportedly able to sustain a note for over an hour. At the time of recording Volunteered Slavery, Kirk was exploring ways in which to make Soul and R&B rub up against Jazz and come out sounding like party mu sic. From the Bluesy title track, through the creative choir jam on "Spirits Up Above" to covers of "My Cherie Amour", "I Say A Little Prayer" and the Coltrane medley of "Afro Blue", "Lush Life" and "Bessie's Blues", Kirk sets it all in context. He proves that he is indeed the master of any music he plays because of his sense of harmony, rhythm, and melody.
