Planet Mu release Ziúr's debut album 'U Feel Anything?' in collaboration with Objects Limited. For someone who has previously released just two EPs, the vision of Ziúr's music is advanced and precise. It's music which beckons you into an alternate world;
wonderfully alien pop music that eschews conventions. She creates eldritch atmospheres that balance gentle melody and warm pop, in which strange elfin voices sing from other worlds and spiralling rhythms feel like entire structures moving. In the latter half of the record these harden into a pounding, martial symphony of steel, and introduce the kind of rough electronic riffs and guitar samples that betray her background in punk. 'Laughing and Crying are The Same Things' features Swedish pop singer Zhala, whose vocals straddle twisting beats, space and staccato strings. The album also features a collaboration with Aïsha Devi on the epic 'Body of Light', in which Aïsha's vocals are pitched up and down, manipulated and distorted into wispy angelic tones, setting the tone for the first half of the album. There's a process to Ziúr's music that's informed by this wish to get beyond the small things. She says "Putting a relation on what's big and small and certainly meaningless behind our existence;
how nothing is everything at the same time etc... it's something that I try to explore again and again by putting myself into a thought process, rather than having everything already formulated." It's a record of powerful, emotional twists and turns and mind-flipping contrasts that resonate with depth.

6 brand new cuts that mix a range of styles with his vivid use of samples and improvised drum programming. 'The Ultimate' kicks things off with a sliding synth riff that wouldn't sound out of place on a '91 Prodigy track with cut up rave vocal interjections over Bu's trademark pulsing bass. 'Bang with the Funk' crushes the 1-2-3-4-5 Sesame Street song, chopping its samples into hard shapes. Things turn dark and minimal with 'The King' which features a sample from Fresh, with strange atonal tones playing off against spooky chords and a tactile bass. On the flipside 'What Am I?' pairs syncopated snares and 4/4 bass pulses while percussion bangs and shimmers over clipped diva refrains and anxious piano. 'Bu'Moon' meshes together some pumping horn blurts and some old fashioned steamy synth wooshes that wouldn't feel out of place on a 50's sci-fi film into a relentless battle track. 'Electric Energy' finishes the EP, sampling an unusual pop source and chopping them over pulsing half time subs that pitch up and down around slipping and sliding drum hits.

The 'Free Fall' EP shows a transition from the 'Dark Energy' material;
the cartoonish hysteria of 'Eu4ria' and the industrial strength drums and hoover stabs of 'I Am The Queen' show a ravier side, more of a nod to the dancefloor than on her debut album. These are followed by 'BuZilla' a tribute to and re-version of her mentor RP Boo's 'Heavy Heat', with the track chopped into even more jagged shapes than the original. The EP ends on brand new track 'Nandi' which is the first fruit of new exper-iments exploring a deeper, more poised new sound.

Created from new beginnings, it's a journey through the naïve exploratory methods with which Alan Myson started to make music over a decade ago. The record is dark and maximalist but at the same time the huge sounds are minutely detailed and elegantly rendered. Cutting himself off in a new studio at the start of 2014, Alan experimented and worked out the core sounds of the album by going back to the techniques he started with: "when I was 15 I would make endless minidiscs with my guitar and effects. With this record I bought the guitar I wanted back then and hit record, creating hours of drones, loops and textures. I wanted to make the album that was in my head when I was 14 but I had no idea how to". With 'Hollowed'Ital Tek gone far beyond his earlier more dance-genre based work, leaving just the footprint and especially the sonic weight and space of dubstep. But the sound here is designed from the ground up and carved into something much more abstract, impressionistic and elegant. As Alan puts it "I'm moving away from dance music and letting sound inhabit a space without shoving everything at the listener in the first few bars".

This four tracker, which drops before his debut album 'Parallel Memories', is a short but brilliant showcase of his delicate use of Grime's speed and sound and his ability to take it somewhere else.The record starts with Boxed anthem 'Don't Leave' which chops and screws a repeated acapella, with spaced drum hits and light drizzly chords. It sounds extra sad and emotionally desolate, but within the Grime grid, it still feels tough. 'Be Somebody' elevates the mood, breathing in some much needed sunlight with a graceful twinkling melody and a hopeful but shy vocal refrain which complement each other perfectly over snapping claps and snares, all pivoting on a heavy sub bass. 'Padded' builds incredibly slowly, a tender melody snaking out across a simple kick and some exhausted sounding hand claps. The melody builds very gently and the track peaks midway with a contrasting noise that seems to shatter the track apart. 'Oh' finishes the EP, mixing slower criss-crossing drums with gently warping vocals that drift in and out of the mix while a soft marimba runs underneath

After emerging in 2011 via a rapid-fire series of groundbreaking EPs, Brooklyn-based producer Ital (Daniel Martin-McCormick) surprised followers by releasing his debut album "Hive Mind" on Planet Mu in February 2012. The record immediately struck a chord with both critics and fans for its fascinating use of house rhythms to bolster fractured, alien landscapes with a surprisingly tender emotional power. Seemingly unconcerned with dance music orthodoxy and informed by years in the noise-punk underground, his compositions came out of left field, constructed on primitive software with bizarre, culture jamming samples. Vertigo-inducing, nuanced and highly evocative, "Endgame" is a delirious pleasure to dive into. The album's textures often explore inviting spaces, only to bring the listener "somewhere uncomfortable, perceiving constant chaos and collapse in the periphery of your vision," as Daniel describes. This is especially evident on the haunting title track, its reverb lingering while the bottom drops out, leaving the listener suddenly on the edge of a cliff they weren't even aware of, and the glacial shift in "Beacon" from warm, bubbling chords to disconcerting stillness. Meanwhile, throttling techno tracks like "Whispers In The Dark" & "White II" burst with undeniably seductive dancefloor energy, each jagged edge and oozing melody uniquely formed.One of his goals from the start was "to keep things liquid. The music had to come from that natural, unforced space." Inspired by recent excursions into psychedelics, "apocalyptic" strains of minimalist composition, and his sense of "eerily ubiquitous post-globalization culture-leveling," "Endgame" is a techno album that teems with ideas. Recorded with a select arsenal of hardware, mixed with M Geddes Gengras at his LA studio and mastered by acclaimed engineer Rashad Becker, the final result is a shimmering blend of his swirling, effects-laden live sets with a deeper, more penetrating emotional and melodic clarity.

DJ Clent - the low end legend - has been known for his music since the days of Dance Mania, releasing tracks such as 'Bounce' and 'Back Up Off Me' which are juke classics. He also released the grimy call to arms footwork track '3rd Wurle', as well as tracks on both Bangs & Works Compilations. 'Hyper Feet' starts off the EP with a high-speed footwork homage to Mike Dunn's classic 'Magic Feet', replicating the hits and using 303 acid to make a sparse but precision-tooled piece of footwork. Next up, 'Baby Yeah' works a vocal and sax sample into shimmering cut-ups and high-speed rhythmic shapes. On side B 'Clent's Dog Catcher' is a half-speed chop up of the intro to George Clinton's famous 'Atomic Dog', sliced and diced into itchy, slippery shapes. 'Don't Go Down' pits an MPC drum workout of the word "down" against a looped "don't go" sample and a mournful piano line, while 'Don't Leave Me (Baby)' contrasts soul samples with a clipped vocal of of 'Baby C'mon' before the track flips into cascading synths.
