Be what you want to – easier said than done… The most important thing is to know what you want. The second most important thing is to realize that dream into actions. Jenny Evans achieved to capture her lifes mantra in a musical way on her new CD. What does she want anyway? She wants to experience originality and some new territories, so for the first time in her career as a Jazz singer that she recorded together with Otto Staniloi, John Paiva, Matthias Bublath, Stephan Eppinger and Manfred Mildenberger. It is not just a new band, it is also a big source of inspiration, which leads to innovative ideas. That is how the listener gets to enjoy a real Wurlitzer amongst many other things. However: It has to stay jazzy, authentic and honest, that is why Jenny arranged the songs the way she feels them. Somehow Jenny also got thrown back to her roots, meaning the music from the United Kingdom. This is why we get to appreciate the musical elite from the 60s, 70s and 80s. The CD has a nice constant groove like in Sunshine of your Love, Englishman in New York to get you in the right mood, Living in the past to enjoy the good ol days and the grand finale A hard days night. Of course Jenny Evans also has her own composition Be what you want to that represents her view on life: Be convinced by what you want to be and realize your dreams. Last but not least there is a personal note to this CD. In the first few months of creating the album, Jenny Evans husband and drummer Rudi Martini battled a severe medical condition. Ten days after his death in May 2015 the first band rehearsal was under way and Jenny Evans dedicated all of her energy and time into the project Be what you want to.
