After travelling the country with The Go Set the thing that really connects with me is just how hard they work. No matter the show, no matter the crowd or the town, or the drive that took four hours when the promoter said two, or the PA system that was going to be adequate and then turned out to be anything but - the band just rolls up it's sleeves and goes about its glorious Celtic punk rock business. To see them deliver a 300 year old Robert Burns poem to a bunch of kids at a pub in Geraldton, or a searing version of a Radio Birdman song to Celtic folk enthusiasts at a festival in Portarlington is as audacious as it is infectious. It's loud and it's got the vernacular turned up to eleven with the bagpipes. Oh, and there's a couple of decent songs in there as well.... The Go Set represents a real link between traditional and contemporary Australian music. I would recommend this band as a fantastic addition to any festival.
