Songs of Bob Dylan is a project I’ve been wanting to do since I first covered Bob’s “Man in the Long Black Coat” on my album Relish. Bob has been a tremendous inspiration, and I’ve been lucky enough to record with him and to sing onstage with him when I toured with the Dead. After getting a chance to do an all-Dylan show during a two week residency in NYC earlier this year, I decided now is the time to make this album. There is of course a deep well of brilliant songs to choose from, and the fact that the Nobel Prize committee has recently honored him makes me even more excited about it. We’ve started recording the album and it will be released next spring. We’ll be posting video updates and behind the scenes looks at the recording sessions so you can come along for the ride.
