THE POOR (formerly The Poor Boys) are an Australian hard rock band that formed in the mid-1980s in Darwin, Northern Territory. They released a debut album titled Who Cares on 15 March 1994 on the Sony label. Who Cares debuted at #4 on the Australian albums chart. A single from this album, "More Wine Waiter Please", was a top ten hit in Australia and peaked at number 30 in the Billboard Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. A later single, "Poison" reached #48 on the Australian singles chart. The band also released two EPs, "Rude, Crude and Tattooed" and "Underfed". During the band's prime, they opened for such bands as The Angels, Alice In Chains, AC/DC, Suicidal Tendencies, KISS, Scorpions and Van Halen. Former drummer James Young is the nephew of Angus and Malcolm Young of AC/DC. The Poor - a superb live band that always brought the pub home with their brand of awesome hard rock - almost metal . The overall sound is tight and controlled, but dirty, rebellious, raunchy, sweaty, early-morning and hung-over. Too slow to be metal, but too fast to be hard rock, this album is more drunk and loudmouthed than AC/DC, but has a clean, solid beat and rocks out more than Beasts of Bourbon. Nearly every track is a winner - especially the hit headbanging special "More Wine Waiter Please". Other highlights include "Hair Of The Dog", "Dirty Money", and "Tell Someone Who Cares". This reissue is remastered with 3 exclusive bonus tracks. Bang your head...
