Red Axes have come a long way since the 2014's Ballad Of The Ice. Tel-Aviv, now a scene and sound that the duo were instrumental in putting on the map, has burst onto the world stage armed with limitless electronic bravado and the city's strong guitar music heritage. Now, the much loved duo return, sophomore album in tow on their own label Garzen Records. Unique moments and significant experiences gleaned over the course of an exceptionally intense year left Dori Sadovnik and Niv Arzi with depths of inspiration for their new record. Throughout December 2016, the Axes worked in their Tel-Aviv studio, surrounded by their extended Garzen family - Abrão, Eylonzo Crotch, Gabriel Broid, Adi Bronicki, Thomass Jacksonn & Iñigo Vontier all feature - giving life to a new psychedelic cosmic adventure. The outcome, a 12 track album which invites listeners to The Beach Goths world. Red Axes snake their way through genres and periods, clearing an unorthodox highway through conventions, nodding to the past, eyes on the future. Live drums, jangling guitars, fuzzed out synths and an all pervasive psychedelia emerge as the backbone of The Beach Goths. Opener Ride The Sus leads in with a nonchalant blues indebted bluster; Tarzan Blues and Relaxation (For Your Mind And Body) call halftime with a bow down to Dead Kennedys and Cramps era proto punk and rockabilly. While the Axes are quick to jam out exotic post-punk numbers, the land of The Beach Goths is a land of contrasts. The clubs are never far and the drum machines come out on prime time club ready chuggers Piper Work, Shir 1 and the album's first choice excerpt Tantram Power. Dori and Niv's vocal chops feature heavily, standing out on the youthful, kaleidoscopic ballad Loosen and hippy trippy song What Is In Your Head. Closing the album with a warm embrace, helped by Deaf Chonky's lead singer Adi Bronicki, on psychedelic ballad Into Your Arms. The land of The Beach Goths is a land of contrasts. Celebrating its 10 years label anniversary Permanent Vacation releases a top-notch package of 16 brand-new tracks by their main artists including John Talabot, Tuff City Kids, Mano Le Tough, Tensnake, Red Axes, Pional and many more. Plus special guest Joakim, who contributed the track 'Camino De La Luna'; paying homage to his classic remix for Antena's 'Camino Del Sol', the first big hit on the label 10 years ago. But let's look back for a minute, because a lot has happened since Tom Bioly and Benjamin Fröhlich dusted off the mirror balls in Munich. Since the 1970s the city always had a reputation for being one of the world's disco capitals and Permanent Vacation took good care of this precious heritage being partly responsible for the new found love of Disco music and its variations such as BALEARIC, COSMIC, KRAUTROCK or PROTOHOUSE. Back then Tom, who for several years had been working in the music business, was a regular at Play Records that was run by Benjamin, who had also been busy as a DJ and party promoter. Soon they became friends and discovered their astoundingly similar taste in music. The label name PERMANENT VACATION also reflects the way the label came into existence, since the its main concept was developed during pingpong matches rather than at a conference table. Already their first release, a compilation of the same name—'PERMANENT VACATION'—, was celebrated as 'razor-sharp, pulsating, pornographic, all fuses opening crazy pop' by one of Germany's leading daily newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung. Taking off from here Permanent Vacation managed to become one of the flagships of the new movement and had several genre-defining hits with the reissue of Antena's classic "Camino del Sol" album (even the Pet Shop Boys claimed it as an influence) and the accompanying remixes. Next up was the album "Miss Diamond to you" by singer Kathy Diamond, produced by the wild boogie wizard Maurice Fulton. This album was followed by multiple releases worth mentioning, many of which can be called modern day disco classics by now: Tensnake's 'Coma Cat', which entered the UK top 40, Azari & III 'Reckless with your love', albums by Swedish Italo princess Sally Shapiro and by Vienna heartthrob Wolfram, Jacques Renault's remix of Midnight Magic's 'Beam Me Up', 40 Thieves 'Don't turn it off', Todd Terje's 'Remaster of the Universe remix collection Record Label: Permanent Vacation Style: House

Red Axes return with the third EP in their ongoing Trips series. This multimedia project mixes up music, film and travel and finds the cult pair seeking out extraordinary collaborations in the countries they visit. This time they head to India having previously visited Vietnam in 2019, and Ethiopia and The Ivory Coast in 2018. Niv Arzi and Dori Sadovnik run their own Garzen Records label and have become much loved for their psyched-out and unusual fusions of guitars, synths and drums. From acid to techno to experimentalism they have done it all, and also worked with Life And Death label boss DJ Tennis as Redrago on a well received album in 2019. This project is about engaging with local cultures and musical traditions, linking up with local musicians, playing and recording with them and presenting workshops for youth music schools. First up is 'Pad Yoga Raga' which has a mesmerising flute floating above a spoken world monologue about the history of raga. Supple bass synths and gently drums roll below to hypnotic effect and the whole thing is hugely atmospheric. 'Mumbai Syndrome' is as busy as the famous city itself: it bristles with life, bird sounds, hiccuping percussion, tabla sounds and slick grooves that sound like on India's famous trains. 'Dehli Little Prince' is a little deeper and more trippy thanks to the fusion of western rhythms with Indian melodies and instrumentals, which come on in uneven loops and eventually melt your mind. The Bangalore Rave Version is characterised by exquisite sitar and more rippling tablas.
