The bulk of the four-minute title track from the third LP by underworld-obsessed Canadian quartet Weapon is exactly the start-stop-and-sprint blackened death metal with which they've earned their fierce reputation. The drums rush into blast beats and deliberately step back out into mid-tempo marches, while the guitars wrap knots of disorder and dissonance around and between all of the breaks. But the tension delivers its brief, galvanizing payload about three minutes in, when Weapon invoke their perfectly placed, arrogantly enunciated hail-Satan chant: Imagine these 15 seconds live, conjuring the kind of horns-up moment where even the most unaware might find themselves joining the praise for, as Weapon shouts it, "The King of Kings."
