n the year for end-time prophecies to be fulfilled, ZombieZombie is releasing a record under Versatile Records and it's called 'Rituels d'un Nouveau Monde' ("Rituals Of A New World"). A title in French aimed to emphasize and affirm the 'made in France'. There is no fluff behind this mysterious and all-encompassing name but the only desire to take a new direction in their instrumental music: after having explored horror movie soundtracks and even covered with intelligence the best music of the genius John Carpenter in 2010. It was time to close the books. Etienne Jaumet is in command, with analog and modular synthesizers, rhythms boxes, effects and vox, Cosmic Neman is playing drums and percussion, vox (rototoms, bongos, maracas , tambourine..) and Joakim is behind the mics and the mixing board of his 'Labyrinthe' studio in Paris. A dream studio: how not to be inspired by that place where the ultimate analog synthesizers are side by side with high-end recording equipment. Joakim's skills as a sound engineer along with his music knowledge did nothing but sublimate the compositions of the band... It was recorded last spring in between the various tours of the two partners, whether it is the solo career of Etienne Jaumet or the other project of Cosmic Neman, Herman Dune. Without taking it too seriously either, the title of this album conceals the idea of talking about the spiritual language of music and of its magical universe. Conveying, through sounds and rhythms, feelings that allow us to reach a dream-like state, the state of trance that is common to the African traditions and the Caribbean where the 'ritual' is the process that allows to come in contact with a supernatural state, here called the 'new world'. The world beyond that Etienne Jaumet and Cosmic Neman are trying to reach while playing their hypnotic music. In the voodoo mythology , some elements of the nature are able to acquire some divinatory and protective powers to come in contact with that other world, such as stones (track1 'the wisdom of stones, (do you believe in..)') or trees (track 5. 'Forêt Vierge'), and of course music that can connect the visible and the invisible. That's what Sun Ra and the black arts Free Jazz movements (track 7. 'Black Paradise') have always sought after while playing, especially while improvising so that they can reach that 'climax' (track6.
