Arrive with your ears. Benedikt Reidenbachs debut album One proves courage for simplicity, for simple, crystalline play, as for earthy, complex sound. His virtuosity comes without false fluency. The guitarist nevertheless shows with his new release quite unobtrusively how versatile contemporary jazz can be. He does not want to deny influence from the folk song and the reminiscences of the folk song - strong melodies find their ground adhesion in an original harmony, are songs without words, form timeless sound images in the here and now (Schattenwalzer). It is not until the second glance that one of course is also a guitar album. Bound handlebar acrobatics? Not even close. His virtuosity is always arranged by the interpreter Reidenbach. "I went to the material as a producer, experimented a lot with the orchestration, and finally decided on the version that served the song the most," he explains. They merge here into their own musical vocabulary. Reidenbach has been playing with the musicians of this album for a long time.
