Schlachthofbronx conclude their Haul & Pull Up series with another strong statement of an EP. In their trademark hybrid style, the Munich bass boys showcase their versatility from writing hypnotic and sensual electronic melodies all the way to the ruffest club weapons. Keeping close to their roots, all of these tunes have been extensively tested on big soundsystems to make sure they make a lasting impression. The opener Electone is an instrumental excursion into a melodic corner of club music, with lots of intertwined synth layers and a long build up, culminating in a break that will send shivers to ravers and home listeners alike. This “club love song with no words” is named after the Yamaha Electone organ it was written on. Following this is Take It Low, another true soundsystem weapon featuring longtime collabo partner Doubla J from Costa Rica. Stripped down to the basics, this bass monster combines both dancehall and booty bass rhythm structures and lets them collide with the well timed vocals while diving in some dubby goodness. Pump Drop Wine ups the tempo again, coming in at 150 bpm of ultimate rolling bassline heaven. With little more than the catchy meandering vocal to complement the beat, it is all about this disgustingly good sounding bassline that makes this a club sureshot. “This is the part where you pump drop wine and repeat.” Always good for a surprising collabo, Bene and Jakob finish this EP off with their quite special version of Bitch Better Have My Money (you know, the AMG one). With no other than Miamis finest Otto Von Schirach on vocals, this 1991 cut gets transported to an 2017 club enviroment with ease. The EP will be available digitally and on a limited edition 12" vinyl (full colour cover + banderole) via Rave And Romance Records/Disko B/Indigo. It’s the third EP in a series of three, leading up to an Haul & Pull Up album in May 2017. With this, Schlachthofbronx will follow up their three previous original albums (2009s Schlachthofbronx, 2012s Dirty Dancing and 2014s Rave And Romance), completed by EPs for Labels like Mixpak, Monkeytown, Mad Decent, Disko B and Man Recordings as well as production work for artists like M.I.A., Snoop Dogg or Bonde Do Role. Like a low, rolling thunder across the plains of the Midwest, Blanche has drifted from his Wichita, Kansas home across the United States back and forth countless times with Calamity cubes!, the 3 piece country band he fronted for many years. With the Cubes being described as 'country thrash', Blanche felt these 11 songs on his first self titled solo album, released on Broken Neck Records, needed a different treatment than normal. The listener finds themselves listening to just the man and his guitar, accompanied occasionally by a violin, mandolin, upright bass or mandolin. NEO NOIRE is the name of the new band founded by rock- and metal-masterminds Thomas Baumgartner (Ex-GurD, Erotic Jesus, Undergod) and Frederyk Rotter (Zatokrev, The Leaving, Crown). The lineup of the furious swiss rock outfit is completed by Franky Kalwies (ex-Disgroove) and David Burger (ex-Slag in Cullet). In autumn 2016, NEO NOIRE played their first gigs and finished the production of their new album ELEMENT, which will be released worldwide through Czar of Revelations on May 5th 2017. In cooperation with Raphael Bovëy at MyRoom Studios, they created a musical monster that already enjoys big interest by fans and media. On April 28, Ryan Pollie will release his second album under the moniker of Los Angeles Police Department. The follow-up to the L.A.-based songwriter’s 2014 debut (also a self-titled effort), Los Angeles Police Department delivers homespun bedroom pop driven by confessional lyrics and beautifully downhearted melodies. “My favorite records are the ones that make me feel like I’m getting to know an artist,” says Pollie. “I love albums that sound like someone is telling me their deepest secrets.” Produced by Foxygen’s Jonathan Rado (Whitney, The Lemon Twigs) and mixed by Rob Schnapf (Beck, Elliott Smith, Foo Fighters), Los Angeles Police Department combines the melodic gambits of Randy Newman with the pop clarity of Paul McCartney, the fanciful ingenuity of Brian Wilson with the narrative acuity of Pete Townshend. Not only a creatively adventurous effort full of inventive flourishes, the album also daringly addresses suicide and addiction, anxiety and bereavement. “I think of this record as a coming-of-age story,” Pollie says. “You always think of coming-of-age stories as something that happens to kids, something like Stand By Me or Catcher in the Rye, but in my twenties I realized that I was always going to face this vulnerability and this anxiety. I’m never going to be that wise old person who’s cold-hearted and knows everything. A wacky burlesque punky Rock band Yiddish music meets the Marx Brothers The Jewish Monkeys are masters of identity play, knights of the absurd, musicians and comedians, who deliver an exhilarating show. They love breaking ethnic and religious taboos, combined with liberating salvos of satire.Their neo-Yiddish sound fusion swings between cirque-like chanson and energetically punk-driven pop, while the language alternates between English and Yiddish. They rarely fail to get people on their feet, dancing: from Syrian refugees in a Dresden transit camp to anti-Pegida protesters the next day. Or from culturally savvy music lovers in German, Czech or French clubs and concert halls, as well as to to hipsters in London or Tel Aviv. And now they’re touring with their latest album. Some of the songs on their new “High Words” album are real attention-getters and potential hits: the song “Alte Kacker” is a wry and cynically self-effacing take on the downsides of getting older, with a fresh and upbeat guitar rock staccato that is sure to get everyone on their feet. The other song, “High Words”, takes an anger-laden shot at the establishment that is dragging us into the demagogy of past world wars in this era of global warming, instead of focusing on equity and environmentalism. The selection of iconic Yiddish songs on the album is, as we might expect, light-hearted and socially critical. Wild instrumental capers resurrect the tone of circus and slapstick in new and modern vibes of klezmer and rock. Their new English song “Pupik” elicits tears of laughter, a tragicomic ode to the beloved one, starting with: “Zelda, why do you have this cousin, Zelda, she is much prettier than you”… The name of the band is not easy to digest. In some Arab countries it is used as a deeply offensive insult. Their comment: “We can do that as Jews! It’s always been our right to dare to be politically incorrect and mock our own Jewishness. But in the end, we are looking for what unites us rather than what divides us.
