As a special goodie, »Seasons Of The Black« comes with a bonus CD of six songs, which some die-hard fans from the beginning probably have in their record collections, in the form of »Prayers Of Steel«, RAGE’s debut album from 1985 and the EP »Depraved To Black« from the same year that were released under the band’s original name AVENGER. “This CD is a gift to our fans and to ourselves”, says the RAGE frontman. “These songs are among the earliest ones I have ever written and since they were released under our old band name back then, but are RAGE songs, of course, we have re-recorded these tracks to bring them home, so to speak. These songs are timeless and still work perfectly and it was great fun to re-record them with the current line-up.” Just like the previous album, »Seasons Of The Black« was recorded at the Megafon studios in Burscheid, Germany and at the Soundchaser studios in Zandhoven, Belgium and produced by the band itself. Daring to go where no other group has gone before, Belgian act Blind Seer live up to the experimental metal tag on "Apocalypse 2.0". With influences ranging from industrial to jazz, alternative to classic metal, and a bit of electronic/outer space themes in between, it's little wonder that these 12 songs may cause a bit of motion sickness. Repetitive drum beats against cold keyboard pitch bends gives "Revolution" this Nine Inch Nails meets U2/Depeche Mode feel, the guitar ringing as strange as the occasional rap vocals. Asthar handles guitars, bass, synth, and theremin, while J-Mo as a drummer gives a respectable performance considering the varied, left-field arrangements and ideas on display. Wan's vocals can be rhythmic, or often an alternative to the proceedings - making for awkward train wreck moments during "Total War", but working effectively during the Voivod-ish meets 8-bit "Spirit in the Machine". Marilyn Manson and Fear Factory would be proud of the dark industrial overtones that penetrate "My Mind Can't Feel", while the David Bowie cover "Starman" that closes "Apocalypse 2.0" gets a Blind Seer makeover between the additional guitar/keyboard loops and the unique phrasing/delivery vocally. Blind Seer are cut from a different cloth - and will not sound like anything you expect. That can be to the good in establishing a fresh take on metal - as the fringes gravitate towards something special, something different. In the end, the aural stew approach doesn't click well to these ears, as it's tough to latch onto the hooks when everything seems more about experimentation as the overriding benchmark for musical achievement CD, Album

Альбом был записан в студии Parlour в британском городе Кеттеринг с продюсером Рассом Расселлом (Russ Russell), ранее работавшим с NAPALM DEATH, DIMMU BORGIR и THE EXPLOITED. Гитарист THE HAUNTED Ола Энглунд (Ola Englund) сказал по этому поводу: "Работа над 'Strength In Numbers' с Рассом Расселлом в качестве звукоинженера и продюсера - это невероятный опыт. Его подход и позитивный настрой помогли нам выложиться по полной при записи. Уже просто быть рядом с этим парнем - это высший класс". В прошлом году Энглунд в интервью для Kaaos TV рассказал о грядущем альбоме следующее: "Думаю, с 'Exit Wounds' (2014) THE HAUNTED нужно было многое доказать, ведь это был в некотором роде камбэк-альбом. Того давления, как мне кажется, сейчас уже нет, мы можем потратить больше времени, мы можем больше внимания уделить качеству. Нам не нужно все делать очень быстро или играть суперскоростные песни всю дорогу". Группа The Haunted существует с 1996 года. В нее входят бывшие и действующие участники таких коллективов как: At The Gates, Paradise Lost, Vallenfyre, The Resistance, Feared, Six Feet Under и Witchery.

180GR. AUDIOPHILE VINYL Jody Grind's second and final record Far Canal is a much sought after proto-prog album. The sound of the group, while still in the early British serious progressive rock bag, had somewhat changed compared to their debut. The jazzy inclinations of the debut are mostly gone, save the atypically tasteful instrumental "Ballad for Bridget." On "We've Had It" and parts of "Vegetable Oblivion," there was a classical melodic influence that is more accessible than anything on the first album. It is somewhat more in line with groups such as Yes, though Jody Grind were far less cheerful. On this record you can hear chops of heavy, somber organguitar interplay. While the presence of three consecutive tracks titled "Plastic Shit," "Vegetable Oblivion," and "Red Worms and Lice" might lead you to expect some Frank Zappaesque, progressive hard rock pieces.
