180 GRAM AUDIOPHILE VINYL GATEFOLD SLEEVE After the success of Death Walks Behind You [MOVLP1907], an appearance on Top of the Pops, a successful tour, it was time for emerging stars Atomic Rooster to record their third album. The album is a perfect example of a band evolving and in constant transition, such as they show with this littleknown gem of the 70s British rock. Much less bombastic than the band's earlier releases, In Hearing Of is almost funky at times. The lyrics are doomladen in the spirit of much of this genre of British hard rock at the time, and pseudo-classical references crop up from time to time, but Vincent Crane's keyboards are generally tasty, and the melodies are often downright memorable. The album's genre is not-quite-metal, not-quite-progressive, but evocative and very well executed. Although not up to the 'classic' status that its predecessor attained, In Hearing Of by Atomic Rooster is a very enjoyable album for both prog and hard rock fans, and probably the last Atomic Rooster album to make an impact on the emerging heavy prog scene;
up-and-coming bands like Uriah Heep, Hawkwind and Gentle Giant would soon command more attention. However, the influence of In Hearing Of can be heard in those band's music, as well as millennial bands such as Wolfmother.

The band was active as a group between 1985 and 1995. In 1984, Glen Campbell first played the song "Highwayman" for Johnny Cash. The four were all together in Switzerland doing a television special and decided that they should do a project together. While the four were recording their first album, Marty Stuart again played the song for Cash, saying it would be perfect for them-four verses, four souls, and four of them. Campbell then played the song and the quartet had the name for their new super-group "The Highwaymen", the name of their first album, Highwayman, and the name of their first single. The four thought it was a perfect name for them because they were always on the road and all four had the image of being outlaws in country music. Both the album and the single eventually reached the top spot in the country music charts. Their remake of Guy Clark's "Desperados Waiting for a Train" reached the Top 20. (Clark is frequently referred to as "The Fifth Highwayman"). The four original members starred together in the 1986 film S"tagecoach".

180 GRAM AUDIOPHILE VINYL GATEFOLD SLEEVE 4 PAGE BOOKLET Black Beauty, Miles Davis At Fillmore West, was recorded on April 10, 1970 at Fillmore West, San Francisco, when Davis performed as the opening act for the Grateful Dead. The recording took place shortly after the release of Miles' classic album Bitches Brew. The album was released in 1973, originally in Japan only. Black Beauty, a true jazz-rock album, captured one of Davis' first performances at a rock venue during the early stages of his electric period. At the concert, he led his band (saxophonist Steve Grossman, bassist Dave Holland, keyboardist Chick Corea, drummer Jack DeJohnette, and percussionist Airto Moreira) through one continuously performed set list. The songs in the band's set list were as followed: "Directions", "Miles Runs the Voodoo Down", "Willie Nelson", "I Fall In Love Too Easily", "Sanctuary", "It's About That Time", "Bitches Brew", "Masqualero", "Spanish Key", and "The Theme". They were performed as one continuous and uninterrupted piece of music, a practice Davis had begun in 1967. He later explained in his autobiography that performing these kinds of long musical suites without breaks allowed more space for improvisations in concert. The original Japanese booklet is included in this vinyl package.

The album maintains its position as the band's most commercially successful studio album to date, and the songs "Nobody Hears" and "I'll Hate You Better" have the distinction of being the only top 40 hits in Suicidal Tendencies' career. The songs on The Art of Rebellion show the band's continuing experimentation with funk that had begun on this album's predecessor, Lights...Camera...Revolution! [MOVLP749], as well as more progressive song structures, a somewhat more alternative atmosphere, and even poporiented sounds. This helped the band not only outride the explosion of alternative in the early 90s, it also helped them gain a fan base within that community. Sides one and four ("Great Expectations" and "Lonely Fire") were recorded three months after the Bitches Brew sessions and incorporate sitar, tambura, tabla, and other Indian instruments. They also mark the first time since the beginning of Miles Davis's electric period that he played his trumpet with the Harmon mute which had been one of his hallmarks, making it sound much like the sitar. This contributed to creating a very clear and lean sound, highlighting both the high and low registers, as opposed to the busier sound of Bitches Brew which placed more emphasis on the middle and low registers. "Ife" was recorded after the 1972 On the Corner sessions, and the framework is similar to tracks from that record. It has a drum and electric bass groove and a plethora of musicians improvising individually and in combinations over variations on the hypnotic bassline. Recorded in March 1970, "Go Ahead John" is an outtake from Davis's Jack Johnson sessions. The recording is a riff and groovebased, with a relatively sparser line-up of Steve Grossman on soprano saxophone, Dave Holland on bass, Jack DeJohnette on drums, and John McLaughlin on guitar with wah-wah pedal.

World Gone Wrong is an exceptional album, boasting an exceptional set of songs given performances so fully realized that they seemed like modern protest songs. Much of this record is fairly obscure to anyone outside of dedicated folk fans;
"Delia" (covered by Johnny Cash the following year) and "Stack-A-Lee" are the most familiar items, yet they're given traditional readings, meaning that the latter doesn't quite seem like "Stagger Lee." But even if these are traditionalist, they're spirited and lively renditions, and Dylan seems more connected to the music than he has in years. That sense of connection, plus the terrific choice of songs, makes this one of his best, strongest albums of the second half of his career.

Tracs like "Sivad", "Funky Tonk", and "What I say" shows enthusiasm and wonderfully live material.
