This unpredictable, nerve-damaging, half-hour-long debut full-length remains at its core a spacey, noisy punk record and will be available on all formats September 4th from Bridge Nine. It’s a short and simple story: I got fed up with the big productions and long sound checks that comes with Cult of Luna. So, it’s back to the roots of my salad days in Umeå. I decided to write 14 songs in 14 days inspired by the bands I worshiped as vegan straight edge punk kid: Judge, Battery, Integrity, ACME and Damnation AD. The concept is to not spend 1 000 days in the studio and nitpick over every drumbeat and production details. The musical destruction has to be alive and direct, tailor-made to induce mosh mayhem and walls of death. I hooked up with Fredrik and Christian, both with a past in the crust/grind terror force Totalt Jävla Mörker. One rehearsal sealed the deal and we recorded three tracks in one night about to be released as a 10 inch vinyl on the Norwegian metal label Indie Recordings. Adding guitar player Marita and bass player Christoffer 138 (DS-13, AC4, Epileptic Terror Attack, Sonic Ritual etc) the lineup was complete. And thus, we are ready to slam dance all over the world. Lee Hazlewood's LHI flagship group, The Kitchen Cinq, had everything but one elusive factor: success. Formed as The Illusions (and briefly The Y'alls) in Amarillo, Texas, the group blended garage punk with killer harmonies and a slight sense of the absurd. Picking up steam locally in the mid-60s, the members started to think about cracking it on a bigger scale, and, in 1966, moved to LA. "Almost immediately upon arrival, we auditioned for Lee," says guitarist/vocalist Mark Creamer. "He said, eal.'" Another of Hazlewood's coterie, Suzi Jane Hokom, was charged with producing the group, making her a de facto female pioneer in the industry. By 1968, The Kitchen Cinq issued a total of five impressive singles and one album, Everything But. They recorded a surprisingly vast amount of material, all of which is collected here. Their version of The Beau Brummels' "Still In Love With You Baby" was a regional hit in many cities, but they were still chasing a big hit, and the LA dream was wearing thin. In the end, the industry burned them out: the endless gigging, the radio spots, the long journeys-including an ill-fated East Coast tour that required them to drive from LA to Florida in three days. "I think LA ate the Texas boys;
I really feel that way," says guitarist/vocalist Jim Parker. The group split in '68, and the members spread off into bands including Them, rock outfit Armageddon and, eventually, careers in studios. One-temporary member J.D. Souther-has a recurring role on the popular soap opera Nashville. The Kitchen Cinq was just a springboard for each of them, but listening to these overlooked works of beat-pop brilliance, you can't help but wonder why it didn't work out for the Texans at the time. Their songs-all of them-live on in this anthology.

Hamilton de Holanda is a Brazilian bandolinist known for his mixture of choro and contemporary jazz, and for his instrumental virtuosity. Born in Rio de Janeiro he moved to Brasilia with his family as a boy. He started playing the mandolin at 5 and appeared at his first performance at six. The album is focused & cohesive, the result of two voices becoming one and each member 's songs complimenting the other, carving out a distinct & unified voice as Ultimate Painting. Slinking out of the gate, the first song "Kodiak" is an hummable future-classic with Cooper & Hoare's guitars dancing around each other with ease. The licks & lyrics conjuring up images of Sixties California & Seventies New York;
a picture of dark clouds on a sunny day. The rest of the album follows suit with the air y, lush harmonies of "Sweet Chris" & "Two From The Vault" and even kicks up some dust with the chooglin' "(I've Got The) Sanctioned Blues" and the manic "Woken By Noises". While their s/t debut was all Cooper & Hoare, this time out, they are augmented by the addition of their live drummer Neil Robinson who provides propulsion on all but one of "Green Lanes"s tracks. The album artwork was once again provided by Portland artist Bradley Kerl, who portrayed Hoare's London flat & recording space chock full of the equipment used to record both the band's albums casually tumbling toward the viewer. Mario Diaz de Leon is emerging as a singular voice in contemporary music. With a body of work that cannot be neatly categorized, his music is marked by a sound that is both hallucinatory and intensely physical, and an aesthetic engagement with the role of mysticism in contemporary life. Born in Minnesota, Diaz de Leon expanded from his early years in metal and hardcore punk to immerse himself in the work of 20th century composers Scelsi, Ligeti, Dumitrescu, and Xenakis, free improvisation, a wide range of electronic music, and noise / industrial music. Based in NYC since 2004, he completed a doctorate in music composition at Columbia University, while also immersing himself in NYC's experimental, noise, and underground metal scenes. His debut album as composer, "Enter Houses Of", was released in 2009 on John Zorn's Tzadik label and praised by the New York Times for its "hallucinatory intensity". The album marked a key point in his association with the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE), now acclaimed as the new gold standard for new music" (The New Yorker). As a solo performer, he is active under the name Oneirogen (o-NI-ro-jen), a project known for its merging of ethereal synths, brutal distortion, and noise influences. Since 2012, Oneirogen has toured internationally and released two full lengths and one EP on the Denovali label. "The Soul is the Arena" is the long awaited follow up to his 2009 composer debut, and the first release of his classical works for Denovali. The album's three tracks find Diaz de Leon deepening his collaboration with the core members of ICE, now a decade long. The mythological trope of the labyrinth, where a winding path leads to a central event that demands a fundamental change of direction, features heavily in the album's blend of acoustic and electronic elements, where a wide variety of ideas are unified by continuous momentum and arresting points of climax. "Luciform" and "The Soul is the Arena" pit virtuosic performances by soloists Claire Chase (flute) and Joshua Rubin (bass clarinet) against an array of vivid electronic textures. These range in character from doom-laden sub-bass to abrasive synthetic cacophony, recalling both Wolf Eyes and the early electronic works of Stockhausen. The elegiac "Portals Before Dawn" is written for a sextet of woodwinds, piano, percussion, and features Diaz de Leon himself on synthesizer. Reducing the density of the previous pieces to its essence, the work unfolds over 20 haunting minutes, transporting the listener through a boundless landscape of rising and falling intensities. Visionary and immersive, this is a bold body of work from an emerging master of modern composition.
