JADED HEART are back with another melodic metal album they are extremely proud of! But wait, there’s more: “Stand Your Ground” is the first JADED HEART album ever without keyboards. JADED HEART transformed into a melodic metal band with heavy guitars and modern metal drumming in the past years. The band had been discussing the idea to leave out keyboards in their songs for a while now and decided that this move gives them a sound that will make a difference in their approach. JADED HEART has always been a melodic band that writes songs with huge sing-along choruses – and this album offers many of those! For the first time in years, the entire band got together and wrote 2 songs as a complete unit in a rehearsal room in Cologne. Because the band lives in different countries this was not an easy task as you can imagine. The creative juices were flowing in full force and it took the band just 3 hours to write “Hero To Zero” and “Kill Your Masters”! The album cover however was not as easy to give birth to, but when Thomas Ewerhard presented the gladiator idea, everyone was on board right away. The impressive title song “Stand Your Ground” is about that very topic. Another first for JADED HEART was the involvement of an external lyricist. Johnny Lindberg was more than happy to be part of this album: “These songs inspired me. The high quality of the melodies and the rhythms alone on this album kind of provoked thoughts that sometimes sprung into words in me – and some lyrics ended up basically writing themselves. It’s been a great honor to have been given the task to write the lyrics for this hard-rocking, melodic metal album.”

This CD version comes housed in a deluxe 6-panel digipak featuring a 16-page booklet loaded with ancient band photos, lyrics, and other visual artefacts.

HEXECUTOR are a band from France that really deserves the stamp "Thrash Metal", because that's exactly what "Poison, Lust And Damnation" is through and through. One uptempo number chases the next, and howling guitars screech with singer Jey Deflagratör so much that the screams on Agents Steels 'Agents Of Steel' seem almost deep. The record goes straight and energetic, but also has many playful moments and one or two nice acoustic breathers (like in the outro of 'Visitation Of A Lascivious Entity'). One could grumble that the wheel has not been reinvented here, or simply let fresh eighties thrash be served up and leave the rest to the avant-garde. 'Mandy Malon

In celebration of HELSOTT's 10th anniversary, M-Theory Audio is proud to reissue “Woven,” the debut full-length by America’s leading pagan metal band. The album – which features striking fantasy artwork by Felipe Machado Franco (Iced Earth, Blind Guardian) – has been newly remixed and remastered by J-F Dagenais (Kataklysm, Misery Index). The new reissue marks the album’s first-ever vinyl release, a limited-edition white wax pressing of 200 hand-numbered copies. The CD, meanwhile, includes the band’s 2012 debut EP “Folkvangr” – which has also been remixed and remastered by Dagenais – as bonus tracks. Since their formation, the California-based HELSOTT – whose name means “fatal illness” in Old Norse – has paid homage to pagan cultures and mythologies while keeping true to their American influences. The group's unique mix of folk metal, death metal, symphonic metal, thrash, classical and rock first caught the attention of audiences on a large scale during the 2013 Paganfest North American tour, where they played with Ensiferum, Tyr and Trollfest. That tour set the stage for the release of “Woven,” which was supported with tours alongside Arkona and Heidevolk. In the years since, HELSOTT has released an EP (2017’s “The Healer”) and a second full-length (2018’s “Slaves and Gods”) and toured extensively both domestically and internationally with artists including Korpiklaani, I Am Morbid, Necrophagia, Tengger Cavalry, Ashes of Ares, Felix Martin, Arkona, Skyforger and Finsterforst. In addition, the band has performed at major European concert events such as the Wacken Open Air and Cernunnos Pagan festivals. The group is currently working on a new album, which they hope to release in 2021.

The wait is finally over! More than three decades after it’s original inception, Swedish cult death metal band Toxaemia will release its debut album. “Where Paths Divide” comes as a dark blessing for all old-school death metal fans that praised Toxaemia's two demos, one EP and one CD-sampler in the 90s. Now it’s time for a full dose of bonecrushing, chainsaw buzzing, gore gushing Old School Death Metal, as Toxaemia return with a new line-up, a renewed motivation and the same sick sound! Toxaemia have been around since January 1989, one of the pioneering bands of Swedish death metal. They have made some line-up changes but the core is still intact. In the three years between 1989 and 1992, the band managed to record two demos and two 7” EPs. Unfortunately, Toxaemia never released the second EP, since they played and released material until 1992 when, for various reasons, took a break. The reunion came in 2017. Initially, it was all just to have some laughs and play some music again. The band members took it all slow and started rehearsing a little bit. Gradually they started to gel again, musically. Some of the musicians had not touched their instruments since 1992 when they quit playing. They started rehearsals and played a few shows and festivals, before signing to Emanzipation and started recording their debut album. Now, the old Swedish death machine is ready to fire on all cylinders and make up for the lost time, with their debut opus “Where Paths Divide!"

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present TØRONTO’s striking debut mini-album, Under Siege, on 12” vinyl format. Hailing from Sweden, TØRONTO formed in 2017, partly out of the ashes of the sorely missed Morbus Chron – vocalist/guitarist Edvin Aftonfalk and bassist Dag Landin, here under the stage names Eddie Flawless and 79-83, respectively – and also powerhouse drummer Leo Ekström Sollenmo, from the well-respected Lethal Steel and Temisto, under the name Lt. Oxtreme as well as Seb Cyborg on guitars, also from Temisto. With this lineup in place, the quartet released their debut demo in 2018 and then the Nocturnal High tape on DYING VICTIMS later that year. That latter title alone suggested that something strange ‘n’ salacious was indeed afoot… And it is! Wanna get nocturnal higher? Then become Under Siege! With Seb departing and being replaced by Steffan of Pissjar, there’s just no slowing down their locomotive breath… Encompassing the strides they made across their two demos, TØRONTO’s first longer-playing record is a rush of weird ‘n’ wild speed metal heavily informed by hardcore punk. Put simply, one could imagine the sound of Under Siege as greased-up NWOBHM colliding headlong into early Razor and Warfare, but overseen by Inepsy, mid ‘80s Discharge, and even Howard Benson-era Motörhead. Shit shreds, fast and free, each raucous-yet-rockin’ section charging into the night but equally exuding an unselfconsciously subtle minimalism that somehow gets these eight bangers over and done with in an average of barely two minutes each. Put another way, one could also imagine the zombified spirit of Morbus Chron holding court here, in the sense that that band both embodied and defied death metal; TØRONTO similarly does such with speed metal, but again renders it into an alternately ideal/oblique form that’s entirely theirs – and this is just the start. While maybe not as off-the-wall weird as GISM’s NWOBHM/noise mélange M.A.N., TØRONTO are treading comparably rarified ground with Under Siege, and their trajectory into the strange is assured. Get with their program or get out of the way!

Re-issue. Going back with my memories to 2008 (or was it 2009?? I just don’t know!) I remember that one day I’ve found a letter in my mailbox with a promo CD of completely unknown Norwegian band called Svarttjern. The name of the band didn’t ring a bell at all and the only thing, for which I recognised it was that Carpathian Forest has a song titled “Journey Through the Cold Moors of Svarttjern”. Anyway, since I’m a big fan of the Norwegian black metal scene – both old and new – I played the CD right away and to this day I remember how blown away I was by this music! At that time my favourite, currently released, Norwegian albums were the ones from Urgehal, 1349, Vidsyn, Disiplin or Taake, but Svarttjern jumped on the darkened throne next to them immediately! I just couldn’t expect a better black metal devastation and desecration than “Misanthropic Path of Madness”. When reviewing it I gave to Svarttjern the maximum points, and have done it without any regrets.
