Delivered from its celestial womb to the human world for inevitable elevation, Tactile Galactics is the new album by Secret Circuit, the experimental dance music moniker and cosmic interface for Los Angeles artist Eddie Ruscha Jr. Amongst his earliest musical endeavors, Ruscha co-founded Medicine, an overlooked four piece whose sinister, snarling take on shoegaze landed them as the first American signing to Creation Records. After leaving Medicine without a bad taste in his mouth, Ruscha's focus shifted from his shoes to the endless array of LA music stores housing analog synthesizers, drum machines and effect units forsaken at the advent of digital technology. While establishing his Secret Circuit identity through various self-releases, Ruscha was a wingman in notable projects with Thomas Bullock (Rub 'N' Tug) as Laughing Light of Plenty and with DJ Harvey as Food For Gods. Ruscha likens his studio obsession to "striving for alien sound or rhythm that feels natural." Between 2011 and 2012, Ruscha released no less than four albums, a 12" for Prins Thomas' Internasjonal Spesial label, a handful of blazing mixes on the Cosmic Papers cassette tape series, and his debut for Beats In Space Records, the Nebula Sphynx / Parascopic Rope 12". Ever the unsettled settler, Ruscha consciously crafted the bulk of Tactile Galactics' tracks at 120 beats per minute. Ruscha played with the equalizing value of this boilerplate dance music BPM in much the same way a DJ might - to set a clear course for transcendence. Tactile Galactics is derived from a dance lineage promoting feel over form; rhythmically explored without abandon - or audience - in mind by the krautrock fringe, put to the slow motion disco test at Daniele Baldelli's Cosmic Club, jacked into a House format via the Chicago imprint TRAX and honored today via peer psychonauts like Hieroglyphic Being and Lindstrom. Tactile Galactics unleashes the lysergic choir of voices in Ruscha's head against a dance grid, but makes sure it stays in soulful step. For the first time on a Secret Circuit recording, these voices are quite literally present via Ruscha's own vocals, added when "the song called for them." All you have to do is hit the play button and Electric Horizon will take care of the rest. Indeed in ways the album feels like one endless cosmic track, but if you’re tuned into European electronic music deriving from the lines of Giorgio Moroder then this album will excite you in ways you doubted possible in 2012. Of course, that’s not in any way to limit the power and scope of this beautifully crafted music which also touches upon many contemporary bases in its process. The opening single, Falling Star will explain everything to you in plain English, although it actually took until track 5 before even noticing the complete absence of vocals – which says something about the music’s capability in itself. In the 90's Mike Wall made his first experiences with electronic music. In these years, he started mixing tapes and playing his first gigs in the East Germany. But he released under the name Mike Wall for the first time on the record label Modulat in 2005, and since then things started looking up for him. In the same year, he played at the legendary Melt Festival! and refurnished his studio. These changes brought a fresh wind in his EP's like "Loose Changes" or "She Comes" and let his productions seem much more smooth and warm. He is known over the border of Germany for the variety in his sets, because even listeners in Italy, Spain, Greece, Austria and Switzerland, USA, Russia and more.. were very enthusiastic about his dynamic sounds. In 2006, his début vinyl was released on the London minimal label named "Safari Electronique", which is home to very talented producers such as Italoboyz, Delete and Arnaud le Textier, Cesare vs. Disorder, Christian Burkhardt, just to name a few. Since then, a lot happened and he released on labels like smallroom music, Hidden Recordings, Sleaze and his own label Wall Music. With the foundation of Wall Music/Wall Music Limited, he took a further step into independence and he began to push unknown artists and labels with the credo of having the best fun out of it. Sandwell District have mixed Fabric 69. The collective, which has included Regis, Function, Silent Servant and Female, began in 2002 and went on to establish itself as one of the past decade's most important techno outlets. After ceasing operations as a record label at the end of 2011, both Regis (Karl O'Connor) and Function (Dave Sumner) have continued to fly the Sandwell flag with live shows across the globe. The outfit continues to communicate with its fanbase via occasionally cryptic images on its Tumblr page—recently it posted a photo with the words "Sandwell District is dead." Fabric 69 is the first official Sandwell District release since the acclaimed 2010 album Feed-Forward. The mix, which has been compiled by Function and Regis, contains a number of original cuts and remixes from the collective's members, as well as material from the likes of Factory Floor, Planetary Assault Systems, Carl Craig and Laurent Garnier. "The mix was essentially an extension of Dave's working procedure and mindset he had got himself into while recording his artist album [Incubation] for Ostgut," Regis explains. "I outlined some sections/tracks that I thought might work with his, [then] I sent him rough 10 minute drafts for him to listen to and try and work into the main flow. The final mixdown was done by Dave, as he had gone over the whole mix hundreds of times fine tuning the detail, it made sense for him to execute the mix proper." Function meanwhile described the mix as "encapsulating an era and putting it to rest." Style: Techno
