The Heavenly Music Collaboration! The German instrumental duo SANKT OTTEN already teamed up in 1999 and joined the Denovali Records roster in 2009. With as much as six full length albums under their belt, their upcoming seventh longplayer MESSIAS MASCHINE (Eng.: 'Messiah machine') is something particularly special as it features collaborations with various pioneers and great exponents of electronic and avantgarde music. Last summer on one of their live shows Sankt Otten met HARALD GROSSKOPF, drummer of ASHRA (as well as appearing on albums of KLAUS SCHULZE). This day wasn't only the starting point for the collaboration with Grosskopf, but furthermore motivated Sankt Otten to invite other musicians to contribute to their 2013 release. All but the eponymous track "Messias Maschine" feature remarkable guest musicians from different generations and musical backgrounds. Participating musicians are JAKI LIEBEZEIT (CAN), ULRICH SCHNAUSS, COLEY DUANE DENNIS (Maserati) and CHRISTOPH CLÖSER (BOHREN & DER CLUB OF GORE) among others. By mixing the unique melancholy of Sankt Otten with ingredients of contemporary synth-music and the heritage of German pioneers of progressive electronic music, the band is moving KRAUTROCK into 2013. Sankt Otten are extremely proud having convinced legendary CAN-drummer JAKI LIEBEZEIT to collaborate. Jaki, this 75-year old "Human Drum Machine" joined with his mantric and experimental beats on three tracks. The recording sessions reconfirmed what Jaki's fellow band member HOLGER CZUKAY once said: "Jaki plays like a machine. Just better." Another album highlight is the appearance of ULRICH SCHNAUSS, who added some of his distinctive synth layers and percussion to the title 'Im Himmel angekommen'. Furthermore, theremin maestro MILES BROWN of THE NIGHT TERRORS from Australia joined the cooperation and played a haunting melody on a 7/8 beat of Stephan Otten's unique electronic drumming. COLEY DUANE DENNIS, head of US-postrock legend MASERATI recorded a tremendous echo-guitar for 'Da kann selbst Gott nur staunen' - vesting the track with a sound that easily could have arisen from a session of KRAFTWERK playing with PINK FLOYD

Mostly recorded in one take with little editing, apart from some overdubbed vocals, lounge organ and creaky acoustic piano parts. The space echoed, sometimes wobbly tape saturated tracks, evoke past and future, using a collection of electric pianos, organ, bass pedals and tapes, augmenting AUN's otherworldly signature guitar, voice and electronics. Further merging their use of sometimes temperamental vintage analog, with more contemporary electronic equipment and techniques, the concise and focused tracks, find the duo at their most luminous and earthly, while pursuing their ongoing exploration of time, space and unknown dimensions. A chapter closed, a chapter opened.

WHERE WE WERE", the new album from GREG HAINES, may come as a surprise upon first listen. The cascading strings that played such an important role in his prior work have disappeared, and in there place are intricate layers of tape-worn synthesizers. Any recordings of piano have been transformed and affected until their sound is at times barely recognizable- often "out-of time" or "out-of-tune", but always adding another dimension to the hazy, analog world of sound, the rhythmically-driven tracks recall at times the deployment on open-minded dancefloors. Although taking a year to complete, the nature of this record is born in its spontaneity and impulsiveness. This hand-crafted approach led to almost everything being constructed in the old-fashioned way;
not with mouse-clicks, but with two hands moving dials and everything running to an aged tape machine. Mixed and mastered together with NILS FRAHM at his Durton Studio, Berlin. The experiments in dub conducted by the likes of KING TUBBY or LEE PERRY and continued by the likes of RHYTHM & SOUND had a profound effect, as did the iconic work of TONY ALLEN and other African composers. The spaced-out soundscapes found on early TANGERINE DREAM and KLAUS SCHULTZE had always had a subtle influence on Greg's work, but now armed with an arsenal of dusty studio toys, those sounds became warmer, richer and more prominent. In line with Greg's new album Denovali Records will release his first three albums "SLUMBER TIDES", "UNTIL THE POINT OF HUSHED SUPPORT" and "DIGRESSIONS" as a limited 5xLp collector's box and as a 3xCd, both with a completely new artwork. These albums can now be seen as a wholesome introduction to a composer who is sure to keep surprising us in the years to come.

WITXES is a sonic entity crashing popular music into singular music. This schizophrenic project, feminine, plural, finds its way in the balance between improvisation and passionate sound research. Since its inception, the project opened a couple of times for Tim Hecker (Kranky) on his european Ravedeath, 1972 tour, but also for Julianna Barwick (Asthmatic Kitty), Chelsea Wolfe (Pendu Sound), Christina Vantzou (Kranky), Duane Pitre (Important) or Colin Potter of Fovea Hex/NurseWithWound, and created a special piece for an Extra Nuits Sonores 2010. Scrawls #01, a compilation of early works was self-released in December 2010, followed by isolated tracks on various labels compilations (Basses Fréquences, SEM, FutureSequence). February 2012 saw the release of a 26-min piece entitled Winter Light Burns for Leonardo Rosado's FeedbackLoop label (PT). SORCERY/GEOGRAPHY, Witxes first album, was recorded between Autumn 2010 and Winter 2012 in various places such as the Ligerian woods, Théâtre de Chaillot in Paris, the underground of an old castle in Chemical Valley as well as a fancy recording facility in Lyon, before being mastered in Brisbane by Lawrence English. Aiming at balancing improvisation and passionate sound research, Sorcery/Geography is a witchcrafted recreation of an inmost geography. Roaming, roving and raving are giving birth to melodic spaces fed on colourful sound layers, shimmering textures and residual traces of sonic instants in which everyone can find a place. Previously released on Humanist Records in 2012 as a limited vinyl version, Denovali Records will re-issue this masterpiece on CD, vinyl, and digital, with reworked artwork and the bonus song 'Winter Light Burns' on CD, in line with the release of the new Witxes album 'A Fabric of Beliefs' in May 2013

The 2008 Masterpiece Constructing Towers finally repressed. Terminal Sound System is the nom de plume of Skye Klein, who merges together electronica, drum and bass and rock music on Constructing Towers. Packing all these elements into a single noisy convergence of drum splashes and distorted fizz is opening track 'In Your Planet', which sounds like a grand finale to the album before it's even got underway. Elsewhere, 'Year Of The Pig' holds itself together with a dubstep-influenced bassline that's constantly threatening to blow its top - which it does, repeatedly. 'Alaska' is another fiery package, full of thrashy malevolence. Towards the end of the album a soundtrack-style, loungey jazz theme seems to set in through the Twin Peaks vibes of 'Duchamp Falls' and 'Theme For Broken Home', making for a far more rounded listening experience than the powerful bluster of its early stages might have suggested. In the first years since their beginning in 2001, DOMINIC have mainly focused on concerts and live shows and have toured Europe a lot especially after 2003. Many DOMINIC releases have seen the light of the day during these years, including two full length albums. Most of these recordings had been done live and as quickly as possible. The band has had its focus on catching the nerve and roughness the live format adds, without spending too much time on post production. With the new album DOMINIC took a different approach and thus Persona marks a new step in their history as a band. DOMINIC started working on the songs for the album shortly after their previous album "Nord" was released in 2009. Since 2010 there have been fewer live shows, but a steady and continuous work on the material for Persona. Finally DOMINIC have been in and out of the recording studio in the Summer and Fall of 2012 to finish the record. The result is Persona, a manifestation of a band that has toured and played together for more than 10 years. DOMINIC have always been hard to label, but attemps to characterise them have used terms such as punk, hardcore, post-hardcore, screamo and post-rock. These are all genres the band is well known with, and musically DOMINIC is probably somewhere within. Yet, these terms could never suffice to describe Persona entirely, the only thing that's for certain is the fact that DOMINIC are DOMINIC, and Persona is Persona. The album name "Persona" is borrowed from the psychiatrist Carl Jung, who defined "the persona" as a mask, the facade we try to maintain in social settings. The persona-mask occurs between the individual and the society around, and is not more real than the characters played in a fictional play. Both in fiction and in real life, the mask has two functions;
to make a certain impression on others, and to hide the true nature of the individual.
