However her passion for music was unwavering. She was inspired by artists such as Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, and Billy Holiday. Appalled by the quality of music on the radio, she was determined to make her own mark. One of her recordings caught the attention of a prominent record executive who vowed to make her a star.
