I am a bit puzzled as to how to describe this album. It would be too simple a realisation to believe that girls can just sing about their being there and get away with that, as if the atmosphere and thiry being themselves is considered as being enough to represent themselves and the songs, in the case of Shelley Short this implication and awareness seems to have become something more deeply serious : her songs are also into that stream of being, listening carefully, caring, and enjoying the atmosphere. She has not only a convincing voice, she has that capability of creating attractive melodies, that never sounds obvious despite a way of keeping it simple. The listener still has the impression being carried from one moment to the next while there is constant change and an awareness of the moment more than being carried away by obvious rhythms of life and music.
