Limited to 300 copies in a double gatefold digipak CD. For fans of: Gas, Shuttle 358, Basic Channel, 12k, Moteer, BBC Radiophonic Workshop. From the industrial heartland of the Ukraine, Yuri Lugovskoy remains that rarest of things, a genuinely mysterious and enigmatic figure working in the field of underground electronic composition. Internet searches revealing nothing but a blurred photograph of a cowled, bearded figure prowling woodland. His previous album on Moteer though captured the hearts of the great and good with tastemakers Boomkat calling it "an enormously enjoyable collection of atmospheric, minimalist meditations, all very much evocative of the raw, experimental sound designs of early electronic music" Two years later Yuri is back with a similarly untitled work, concocting an album of exquisitely deconstructed takes rooted in Berlin based dub techno. Stripping the sound to its barest bones, Lugovskoy wrings supreme melancholy and a warm, rhythmically pastoral sound from the most basic of sound sources (some of the tracks being assembled from fragments of samples of old '70's movies and processed beyond recognition through whatever hardware/software Lugovskoy employs). His unusual loops have a hazy, dream like quality often recalling the low-end hum of late night factories. The minimalist drift of Wolfgang Voigt's landmark Gas project is brought to mind but Lugovskoy goes one further and removes most traces of beats from the work, culminating in a sound which channels enthusiastically Basic Channel or the more contemplative moments of the Raster-Noton canon. To complement the brittle stillness of the original compositions, we have asked some of our favourite artists to re-think, re-work and re-construct Yuri's music, encouraging them to add parts and play on top of the original work. The results are nothing less than stunning:- Brave Timbers uses elegiac piano and layered strings to build up a gorgeous wall of Rachels like neo-classical bliss, William Ryan Fritch produces a stunning string concerto recalling Ryuichi Sakamoto while The Humble Bee (The Boats' Craig Tattersall) and Mugwood (Isan's Antony Ryan) both produce perfect heartfelt electronic pieces which retain the isolated feel of the original work, yet take it off in entirely new directions. Further remixes from Fjorne, Strategy, Tokyo Bloodworm, Panoptique Electrical, Insecto and Chessie are no less impressive and for us, represent some of the best examples of electronic music composition around today

A Travalogue of her visit, mashing field recordings with Lindsay's wonky pop and then brought back to the UK for a citrus fresh session with Benge at the Mastering filter station. Just pop enough to fit the pages of experimental music, but also with enough of a experiment inside the idiom of pop so you know this will never be mainstream.

WERMONSTER is Nicolas Mercet, a French musician and producer living in Berlin. After a few EPs on the Musica Vermella and Slow Fi Monks imprints, "Ghosts Move Slowly", his startling debut album, is being released by Exotic Pylon Visual artist Mathieu Séry, also a Berlin-based French émigré, is responsible for the visual realisation of the digipak art. "Ghosts Move Slowly" was mastered by Brian Pyle (Ensemble Economique). Predominantly inspired by Hip Hop and saturated in textures from contemporary bass music, Wermonster fuses a widely accessible sound with richly haunted atmospherics - a wide-screen production that is soulfully psychedelic and laced with abstract textures. However, "Ghosts Move Slowly" marks a major development in Nicos compositional and recording processes:.. The result is eerie and beautiful, draped in a uniquely European elegance as a very human narrative seems to play out in the shadows of its 30 plus minutes. But for all its natural beauty, WERMONSTER never loses sight of the machines - beats crack, bass moves seismically, electronic tone delves deep into the bloodstream and Infinite Livez pops up to spit surreal haiku over chipmunk morse code...Produced in WERMONSTER's studio (located in an abandoned swimming pool) between summer and winter 2011, "Ghosts Move Slowly" utilises: Farfisa Matador Organ, Korg poly 800, a Kaossilator, Crumar BitOne Synth, Les Paul Special guitar, Fender Jazzbass, Trace Elliot guitar Amp, a cheap Casio Keyboard, one children's classical guitar, chimes, bells and diverse percussions, a melodica, second hand records, mkII turntable, vestax mixer, SP303 and SP404 samplers, Akai S950 Sampler, microphones, a portable recorder, some FX boxes and a laptop.

Burroughs in 1982. Originally issued on vinyl only in 1989 (in an edition of 5000 copies), rare tapes have been found to expand to a full double CD set, with updated sleeve notes and never before seen photos. The new work commissioned by Aldeburgh Music continues the exploratory journey set out in Porter's landmark 'Aftertime' album, unravelling the strands of affinity and contrast between contemporary classical, industrial noise and ritual electronics. Continuing the path of her contributory work on 'Aftertime', multi-instrumentalist Cynthia Millar performs Dobro and Ondes Martenot, a pioneering early electrical instrument from the 1920s, with her haunting arrangements based on traditional Scottish folk song 'Henry Martin' forging an elegiac communion with Porter's dense textures, pulsing bass tones and dynamic atmospherics. The recording made within this vast concert hall breathes a unique residual intensity into the material, capturing the performative tension and acoustic beauty of the space, whilst evoking the sonic impact and transient delicacy of the music. The commission expands on Porter's investigations into the relationship between man, technology and nature with the piece crystallising this vision, and in the process reverently mirroring the deeply human themes present in the song's text and the haunted apparitions of visual artist Rod Maclachlan, whose projections accompanied the performance

Lata is Jacob Burns who also plays electronics in Cindytalk. Starlings is his debut release, an electronic album in 9 parts, mastered by Brian Pyle (Ensemble Economique) and featuring original artwork by Simon Richardson. An excerpt was featured on the July edition of The Wire Magazine's Tapper CD. Starlings is an album born of two excitements, two moments whose physical place shapes the resonances on it. First, Tundla Station, evening: stepping down from thirty-six hours on a train and walking back into the body of the building, feeling the travel that had been hanging so heavily slip off. The arches of the place were alive with birds, flicking off the walls and the top of the crowds, delicate bodies who seemed drawn up, in ever more numbers, to the vaulted roof, where they were coming into roost. The host of them were all singing, in a high, pure pitch that was contained and multiplied by the masonry of the station into an incredible noise, loud but not painful. Walking through that station and out again into the night was one of the most exciting aural events of my life. I found out later they were Starlings. Secondly, the album is very much about moving to London, after looking forward to it for so many years, and just being overwhelmed by things to do and the places to do them in. The East London Line extension had just opened, and I was up and down this railway all the time, and the spaces of this travel were just incredible to me. The brutalist intervention of the new stations, into what is otherwise a very old railway line, brimming with clichés - the dripping tunnel under the river, the elevated section on Victorian arches - helped to fix my ideas of London's special syncretic character. That character very directly fed into the making of the album, and the kinds of sounds and atmospheres used.

Fans of Sun Ra, take notice - there is a new American original on the scene who hails from Birmingham, Alabama. Lonnie Holleys music is unlike anything we have ever heard, and we feel these recordings are a welcome addition to the continuum of music. This album marks the first time Dust-to-Digital has taken an artist into a recording studio. Lonnie Bradley Holley was born on February 10, 1950 in Birmingham, Alabama, the seventh of twenty-seven children. From the age of 5, Holley worked various jobs: picking up trash at a drive-in movie theatre, washing dishes, and cooking. He lived in a whiskey house, on the state fairgrounds, and in several foster homes. His early life was chaotic and Holley was never afforded the pleasure of a real childhood. Since 1979, Holley has devoted his life to the practice of improvisational creativity. His art and music, born out of struggle, hardship, but perhaps more importantly, out of furious curiosity and biological necessity, has manifested itself in drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, performance, and sound. Holleys sculptures are constructed from found materials in the oldest tradition of African American sculpture. Objects, already imbued with cultural and artistic metaphor, are combined into narrative sculptures that commemorate places, people, and events. Holley did not start making and performing music in a studio nor does his creative process mirror that of the typical musician. His music and lyrics are improvised on the spot and morph and evolve with every event, concert, and recording. In Holleys original art environment, he would construct and deconstruct his visual works, repurposing their elements for new pieces. This often led to the transfer of individual narratives into the new work creating a cumulative composite image that has depth and purpose beyond its original singular meaning. The layers of sound in Holleys music, likewise, are the result of decades of evolving experimentation

As FLIPRON guitarist, songwriter & frontman Jesse Budd says: "Wed been working on an instrumental that had a sort of 2-Tone meets Spaghetti Western feel, but we felt that it could be more atmospheric with some ad-libs & shouts, & theres nobody who can do that sort of thing as well as Neville, so we asked him. He puts a huge amount of energy & personality into what he does. We couldnt be more delighted. We think the whole tune has come alive with his contribution, & hes great in the video too!" But "Firework Shoes" is ultimately an album as much about entertaining & engaging the listener as it is about provoking questions. One question though: How do Flipron describe their music? Well, US-based music industry mag Music Connections described the band as "Barrelhouse Britpop" which the band thought was pretty good. They quite like "psychedelic honky-tonk" too!
