MERMAIDENS are a three-piece outfit from Wellington, New Zealand, who are renowned for their intricate and unique songwriting, boldly raw but increasingly refined studio production, and a hypnotic live synergy that leaves audiences enchanted. Drawing inspiration from bands like Warpaint, Fugazi, Exploded View and Sleater-Kinney, Mermaidens formed in 2013, having been friends in high school. Perfect Body features many of the familiar characteristics of the MERMAIDENS' sound, with twinkly, reverb-laden guitar lines, rich vocal harmonies and vibrant drums. They have expanded on these sounds, bringing in even more dynamic elements, building richer melodic layers and a wider range of guitar textures, as they explore different levels of dissonance. But any notion that Guantanamo Baywatch is strictly adhering to one facet of rock n' roll's classic era is dispelled by the soulful swagger and unabashed pop of "Neglect". It's an inadvertent juxtaposition maintained through the entirety of Desert Center, with blazing instrumental nuggets like "The Scavenger" alternating with the proto-grunge and golden oldies mash-up of a track like "Blame Myself." Like their 2015 album Darlingâ?Ý It's Too Late, Desert Center was primarily tracked in Atlanta at Living Room Recording with Justin McNeight and Ed Rawls, with Jason Powell doing the bulk of the guitar tracks on his own at Jungle Muscle Studios. While Guantanamo Baywatch initially made a name for themselves with their early blown-out recordings, Desert Center retains the raw aesthetics of a Hasil Adkins single, but has the added heft and thump afforded by a modern studio. This balance is perhaps best captured on their lead single "Video", where bassist Chevelle Wiseman drives the tune with a thick, throbbing riff while drummer Chris Scott ruthlessly pounds his kit with a crashing clarity guaranteed to please even the most snobby analog audiophile.

Fake Laugh showcases a familiar world of love, confusion and self-questioning but refocused through the bright lens of the London/Berlin based artist Kamran Khan. Tirelessly writing and recording whenever he can, a busy 2016 saw Khan release the energetic "Ice" EP, the bubbly trepidation of double A side "Mind Tricks/Birdsong Lullaby" and the more complex and serene "Great Ideas" EP. All three were important steps towards manifesting the right combination for this eagerly anticipated debut. Khan confesses that once upon a time Fake Laugh was "a bit of fun on the side". However, now with the project his sole focus, there's a revitalised commitment to recording that has seen him finishing the album this year. First official CD release of the album - presented in a shrink-wrapped 6 panel fold out card wallet. This release is the latest in an on-going co-ordinated campaign which will see the complete Spacemen 3 catalogue re-issued;
properly managed and released on heavy weight vinyl and CD in a fold-out card wallet formats. "For All the Fucked Up Children of This World" was first released as a bootleg record in 1995. The record consists of Spacemen 3's first ever recording session from 1984. The music itself sounds like a primitive version of what the group were to become;
the dominating sound of the record is a slow, droning psychedelic blues performed with sparse instrumentation. A drum set is matched with a pair of distorted electric guitars, all of which provide a swirling foundation for Jason Pierce's vocals. The album's liner notes replicated here are actually an early review of the band by Gary Boldie, where he contemplates the city of Rugby and finds it an odd source for this new sound, and he declares Spacemen 3 as the "all singing, all dancing answer to the problems of a grey 1985.

В результате получаются очень вдумчивые, качественные пластинки, являющиеся финалом трудоемкого процесса, который по достоинству оценивают ведущие музыкальные порталы и критики. И что самое важное — это чувствуют даже те, кто не слушал музыку рокеров раньше.
Альбом был создан, записан, сведен и смикширован лидером и фронтменом группы Адамом Грандюсьелем, в сотрудничестве с Шоном Эвереттом - продюсером и инженером, ранее работавшим с такими музыкантами как Alabama Shakes, Weezer, и Джулиан Касабланкас.
