On "Antenna to the Afterworld", Smith likens himself to a space being visiting Earth using wry humor, gritty poetry, and a myriad of musical lenses fleshed out by drummer Kelley Stoltz's Joy Division-like beats, Ryan Browne's new wavish basslines, and Tahlia Harbour's deadpan vocals. The murder of a close friend of the band led Smith to think a lot about death and life after death. Shortly after, a visit to a psychic/medium brought Smith into contact with another friend who had died. This encounter with the afterworld inspired many of the lyrics on Sonny & the Sunsets' new record. And what a strangely entertaining odyssey it turned out to be.

The collection includes the 1994 BBC Peel session, together with all of RODAN's long-out-of-print 7"s and compilation tracks. In 2009, Bob Weston, Jeff Mueller and Jason Noble lovingly re-mastered the tracks at Chicago Mastering Service. All formats of the album will include a digital download of 10 bonus live recordings selected by Jason, Jeff, TJO and Kevin from their extensive personal archives. The packaging for the vinyl album and CD was designed by Jason Noble and Jeff Mueller, and has been letterpress printed by Jeff Mueller at his own Dexterity Press studio. Despite the brief time span of their existence (1992-1994), RODAN appeared on a surprising number of records. Aside from their classic (and only) full length album "Rusty" (1994 on Quarterstick Records), the band released the "Aviary" demo cassette, and the "How The Winter Was Passed" single. They also contributed tracks to the "Compulsiv For Two", "Inclined Plane", and "Merry Christmas Is For Rockers" compilations as well as releasing a song on the soundtrack to the film "Half Cocked" (in which they also acted), and recording a brilliant session at the BBC studios in London for the John Peel show (unreleased until now).

Fire Records are proud to announce the signing of celebrated American singer-songwriter MARK MULCAHY for his eagerly anticipated forthcoming album, entitled "Dear Mark J. Mulcahy, I Love You.", which will be his first studio release since 2005's critically acclaimed "In Pursuit Of Your Happiness". Armed with his trusty Epiphone and his wonderfully emotive vocals, MARK MULCAHY recorded the new album in Northampton, Massachusetts with Henning Ohlenbusch. The album was mixed by Grammy-winning producer Paul Q. From there followed albums "Smilesunset" and "In Pursuit Of Your Happiness", several tours of the UK and Europe, countless radio sessions and huge critical acclaim for both his songwriting prowess and his remarkable voice. In 2008 he put everything on hold to look after his children following the tragic death of his wife. To assist him through these troubled times many of his long-time fans in the music industry banded together to record an album of his songs as a tribute to his wife and the result was 2009's "Ciao My Shining Star", featuring the likes of MICHAEL STIPE, THOM YORKE, FRANK BLACK, MERCURY REV, DINOSAUR JR and THE NATIONAL. Partygoing" features 13 quick and catchy songs, and Stephin Merritt and Gonson deliver their lines with vim and vigor, particularly on "How Very Strange" a mean-spirited look back at the implausibility of a relationship, batting lines back and forth-it could be a sequel to the MAGNETIC FIELDS' "Yeah! Oh, Yeah!" (sample lyric: "I put a little heroin / In everything you took in"). Another top track is "Drink Nothing But Champagne," in which Merritt gives his best impressions of David Bowie and Aleister Crowley, as he sings, "Children, drink nothing but champagne / It makes life shorter / Than drinking water" (and water's mostly piss!). Merritt's ode to double suicide, "Let's Go to Sleep (And Never Come Back)," makes it sound like an adventure, while "Keep Your Children in a Coma" offers these words of wisdom: "You can't let them go to school / For fear of bullying little beasts / And you can't take them to church / For fear of priests." His lyrics veer into territories few have the audacity to touch. There are fewer zombies and aliens on "Partygoing" than on the prior two albums, though there are plenty of songs about aging, death, heartbreak, rejection and austerity

CASE STUDIES is the musical project of Jesse Lortz, a prolific Seattle based musician. His lyrics wax and wane with truth bare tales from his life. "This Is Another Life" is Lortz's second full-length solo release on Sacred Bones. It is the follow-up album to 2011's highly acclaimed "The World is Just a Shape to Fill the Night". "This is Another Life" features guest vocals by Marissa Nadler on "Villain" and has the same producer and engineer, Greg Ashley of the band Gris Gris, as the last album.
