MOUSTACHE OF INSANITY are an Australian (Bill Botting, bass player with Allo Darlin and with Darren Hayman's Secondary Modern) and a Swede (Nik Vestberg, Allo Darlin videographer) with a shared passion for DIY music (pop, antifolk, punk. you name it). They make songs on guitar, casio and gameboy. "Album Of Death" is their debut full length, out on Fika Recordings, following on from their sold out EPs on Fika in Feb2012 and on WeePop in 2011. Their songs are sometimes silly, sometimes serious, but alway catchy and from the heart. They have been compared to everything from The Moldy Peaches to Jens Lekman, via The Television Personalities, but describe themselves as playing "some sort of friendly casiopop- folk-occasionally punky-bouncy-rock-fun-mess". The band name, apart from being rather stupid, is really a call to arms, expressing a sincere desire to kickstart a revolution in a music world where too many bands take themselves far too seriously and have forgotten how to just enjoy themselves. L A N D release their debut album, "Night Within" on Important Records. CD packaged in deluxe first edition letterpressed jackets. Guest contributions include David Sylvian, Daniel O'Sullivan (Miracle and Ulver), Duke Garwood and many others with the two creators taking a directorial role. The album was sculpted in Reykjavik by Ben Frost, enhanced by his signature aural physicality and visceral sub bass. The album is a vast collision of sound, from free brass and woodwind to "geometric" bowed cymbals and metallic percussion. But more than simply music, the multidisciplinary L A N D draw on and evoke a wide range of art forms. A new album by the italian band King Size. After two eps and a whole year of recording session, spaced just for some live activities, the Italian indie-powerpop quartet from Treviso-Venezia had just relased the new album “guess it”: ten new strong and powerful hit from the brothers Guido Dal Pozzo , bass and vocal, Enrico Dal Pozzo, guitar, Nicola Gubernale vocal and guitar, Matteo Bortolussi, drums and vocal. Like the King Size’s tradition, they had recorded the entire album in Magister S studio managed by the sound engineer Andrea Valfrè and mastered in Los Angeles by Cristiano Avigni. The production directly came from the King size in coproduction for distribution with the indie stoner label Go Down Records. The King Size also has made a collaboration with the apparel brand Sisley that gave to the band suit and accessories for the album pictures and live performance. King size with the album “Guess it” present a new and interesting work perfectly suited for the contemporary alternative music style.

If they aren't L.A.'s biggest band, Jail Weddings definitely have L.A.'s biggest sound-an nine-person-deep rock n' soul revue that feels like the Pogues as produced by Phil Spector, a soundtrack to a Hollywood-gone-Babylon left unloved and unexplored since the last notes of X' Los Angeles LP. Their 2010 full-length Love Is Lawless was gigantic, the kind of thing that should be a film (directed by Billy Wilder) but becomes an album instead. L.A. Now Jail Weddings return with a leaner line-up and a new EP called Four Future Standards. Recorded through the fall and winter of 2011-2012 by Mark Rains (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Waylon Jennings), Four Future Standards reinforces frontman-architect-drill sergeant-and-mad-genius (oh, and singer) Gabriel Hart and his returning core members . And this time, the songs (in a way) are all love songs : The raging Scott Walker-meets-Ziggy Stardust cabaret rocker "Overnight," or the collision of Gun Club guitar and Shangri-Las melodrama that lets "Good Book" make death into the break-up to end all bitter break-ups, or the punked-up Del Shannon-style story of regret and revelation in "Red Light Rhythm." Or especially "(There's Nothing Worse In The World Than A) Crying Girl," an unflinching last-call operetta that could have been written by Warren Zevon, produced by Nick Cave and recorded by Roy Orbison . but only after a bleary night playing Iggy Pop's "Turn Blue" until the needle gave out in a wisp of smoke. In these four songs are love as sickness, love as delusion, love as warning, love as righted wrong or wronged right-even love as total helplessness before impending doom, as seen through the lens of an upturned bottle. Texas native John Peña began writing and performing under the Heavenly Beat guise in the latter part of 2009. After a handful of short live shows, John put performing on the back burner and began working on building a stronger set of songs. John emerged from his bedroom after months of leisurely paced recording with a couple of tracks that would become his first release on Captured Tracks in the form of the 7 inch single "Suday". Being influenced by nothing in particular has payed off as many have had trouble pinning the sound down as anything other than "immaculately arranged and paced" and "attractive music for attractive people". Thus again proving that just because you've heard a song by The Cure or Neil Young doesn't mean you have to ape it shamelessly to gain wide acceptance. Shortly after the release of "Suday" Heavenly Beat released the A side "Faithless" for their forthcoming 2nd single, igniting not only the blog world but the interest of the uninformed few who might have missed "Suday". His current solo shows are performed with voice, nylon string guitar and samples. ZULUS are a Brooklyn, NY-based band consists of Daniel Martens, Aleksander Prechtl, Jeremy Scott and Julian Benett Holmes. After seven years of collaborating in bands such as post-hardcore Battleship and Prsms in the San Francisco Bay Area, the duo Martens and Prechtl started songwriting together a little over a year ago. "The songs we started writing were, to our ears, far more poppier than anything we had worked on together before. This was partly because I hadn't ever played drums seriously before, and so my drumming was far simpler than any of the talented drummers we've played with in the past. It was also, I suspect, partly because we wanted to move away from hardcore. We were also at that time both playing in a reunion version of the early 90's hardcore band Rice (featuring Rop Vazquez), so that was already an outlet for our more aggressive musical tendencies.
