Seaweed formed out of the fertile northwest punk scene of the mid-to-late '80s in Tacoma and Olympia Washington. Singer Aaron Stauffer, fresh off a stint in the little-known Spook & the Zombies, founded the band with best friend Clint Werner, who assumed guitar duties. After the recruitment of guitarist Wade Neal, bassist John Atkins, and drummer Bob Bulgrien, Seaweed began playing clubs throughout the Pacific Northwest. From 1989 to 1999, Seaweed recorded five punk-pop LPs and played over a thousand shows. According to All Music Guide, "they played D.I.Y. with the Sub Pop label for their first three records, went ambitiously astray by signing with Hollywood Records, then did the cool right thing by returning to indie Merge." This August, Merge Records offers the vinyl reissue of 1999's Actions and Indications, remastered and pressed to high quality vinyl, with three unreleased bonus tracks (digital only) added. Originally recorded at Tacoma's Uptone Electric studio in the summer of 1998, Actions and Indications is a tour de force of power chord dynamism.

Pridjevi is the recording project of Dino Santaleza , Ivana Picek & Nina Romic;
a trio of Croatian songwriters who formed the band on a lark, trading ideas & songs over email until birthing what would become Pridjevi's debut album. After releasing it via Bandcamp in the spring of 2014 as a digital-only release, the album caught the ears of Trouble In Mind who present it here in the vinyl & compact disc format. Pridjevi's s/t debut is a dizzyingly psychedelic magnum-opus & a stunning debut, stitching together a seemingly disparate range of inspirations such as psychedelia, acid rock, baroque pop, Tropicalia, and Eastern ragas into an addictivel listenable whole. The band sings entirely in Croation, but the melodies & songs carry the entire weight of the album, holding the listener's attention until the last note is struck. Pridjevi's tunes feel almost like rock devotionals to a higher spirit;
heavy, hypnotic & wholly unique. The band has evolved into a fully functional live unit, playing shows & festivals in Europe, building a solid fanbase, particularly in their native country, where the band has already been featured in Rolling Stone & beyond.

Debut album of Gwenno Saunders, who is a music producer, DJ, radio presenter and singer from Cardiff. She has just released her debut solo album, 'Y Dydd Olaf' following a string of critically acclaimed EP's - 'Chwyldro', 'Golau Arall' and 'Fratolish Hiang Perpeshki / Calon Peiriant'. From 2005-2010 Gwenno was a writer and performer as a member of Brighton-based conceptual pop band The Pipettes and more recently, toured as a synth player with Australian duo Pnau (Empire Of The Sun) and Elton John. Low In The Dust is the band's first full-length after two 10" EPs and two 7"s and is a perfectly crafted record: every guitar note, every drum hit, every vocal howl has been painstakingly thought out and performed. Side A features four tracks that are at times heavy and technical, bringing to mind the more raucous moments of DRIVE LIKE JEHU with Side B featuring two tracks clocking in at over 14 minutes each with a minimalist repetition made familiar by bands like SHELLAC. The record was mastered by Bob Weston of SHELLAC at Chicago Mastering to give it the perfect balance of cleanliness and grit, and is a testament to a band not willing to sacrifice quality over quantity in their output.

Limited first pressing on blue vinyl - 180g. Mario Diaz de Leon is emerging as a singular voice in contemporary music. With a body of work that cannot be neatly categorized, his music is marked by a sound that is both hallucinatory and intensely physical, and an aesthetic engagement with the role of mysticism in contemporary life. Born in Minnesota, Diaz de Leon expanded from his early years in metal and hardcore punk to immerse himself in the work of 20th century composers Scelsi, Ligeti, Dumitrescu, and Xenakis, free improvisation, a wide range of electronic music, and noise / industrial music. Based in NYC since 2004, he completed a doctorate in music composition at Columbia University, while also immersing himself in NYC's experimental, noise, and underground metal scenes. His debut album as composer, "Enter Houses Of", was released in 2009 on John Zorn's Tzadik label and praised by the New York Times for its "hallucinatory intensity". The album marked a key point in his association with the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE), now acclaimed as the new gold standard for new music" (The New Yorker). As a solo performer, he is active under the name Oneirogen (o-NI-ro-jen), a project known for its merging of ethereal synths, brutal distortion, and noise influences. Since 2012, Oneirogen has toured internationally and released two full lengths and one EP on the Denovali label. "The Soul is the Arena" is the long awaited follow up to his 2009 composer debut, and the first release of his classical works for Denovali. The album's three tracks find Diaz de Leon deepening his collaboration with the core members of ICE, now a decade long. The mythological trope of the labyrinth, where a winding path leads to a central event that demands a fundamental change of direction, features heavily in the album's blend of acoustic and electronic elements, where a wide variety of ideas are unified by continuous momentum and arresting points of climax. "Luciform" and "The Soul is the Arena" pit virtuosic performances by soloists Claire Chase (flute) and Joshua Rubin (bass clarinet) against an array of vivid electronic textures. These range in character from doom-laden sub-bass to abrasive synthetic cacophony, recalling both Wolf Eyes and the early electronic works of Stockhausen. The elegiac "Portals Before Dawn" is written for a sextet of woodwinds, piano, percussion, and features Diaz de Leon himself on synthesizer. Reducing the density of the previous pieces to its essence, the work unfolds over 20 haunting minutes, transporting the listener through a boundless landscape of rising and falling intensities. Visionary and immersive, this is a bold body of work from an emerging master of modern composition.

Sweet Disorder!" b/w "Stars" is the new 7" by Birmingham, Alabama's Lee Bains III and the Glory Fires. It features two new, exclusive tracks, and it comes out July 24th, 2015. The song "Sweet Disorder!" is about disrupting systems that have proven to fall short of, if not completely undermine, their purported missions (e.g., criminal justice, mental health, the church, language) for the sake of realigning them with those missions. The song developed out of months spent revisiting the Objectivist poets, binging on early Clash albums, and observing the Atlanta actions surrounding the deaths of Michael Brown, Eric Garner and other unarmed people of color. The song is the first completed work in a group of songs, tentatively titled Juvenile Detention, aimed at investigating questions of socialization, youth, identity, law, privilege, religion, culture, place, causality and memory. The song "Stars" was originally performed by the Birmingham band Primitons, and was released on their self-titled, Mitch Easter-produced 1982 masterpiece EP. The song is a result of the powerful songwriting team of non-performing lyricist Stephanie Truelove Wright and singer/tunesmith Mats Roden - an original pillar of our city's punk/independent scene, a pioneering openly gay hometown musician, a gentle, self-deprecating soul, and a brilliant songwriter and bandleader who managed to craft melodies out of whimsy and nostalgia, sweetness and fire, sophistication and trash in such a way that could only have taken shape on the Southside of Birmingham. Mats passed away in 2014, and this record is dedicated to his memory and to his songs. "Sweet Disorder!" was produced by Tim Kerr, cut by Jeremy Ferguson, mixed by Lee and Jeremy - all at Battletapes in Nashville, TN. "Stars" was recorded by Lee on Lee's phone in Atlanta, GA. Shined up by Jeremy at Battletapes.
